Recreational marijuana will affect society’s future by affecting the development of the brain, starting addictions, and affecting a user’s life. According to research, smoking marijuana daily can affect the development of the brain and can assure long term effects. A person’s memory can be impaired from marijuana because THC(tetrahydrocannabinol) changes how information is processed in the hippocampus. With the THC, people who smoke may experience a loss of hippocampal neurons, which are used to help them learn new information, and with the loss of those neurons plus the loss of neurons as they age, the person is not able to learn new information as quickly as others around their age. This affects society’s future by lowering people’s intelligence
Medical marijuana has been one of the most controversial topics in politics for years regardings its legalization and any possible benefits. Marijuana is commonly referred to as the “gateway drug” and has been thought to be what causes the downfall of our youth in today’s society. The legalization of recreational marijuana is an important debate, one that could really cause drastic changes in societies. Marijuana has entered a dark stage in the pathway of legalization, and it is correlating with the prohibition stage that alcohol rested in. The debate can often reach a nasty level between individuals taking sides with the topic. Legalization of marijuana can be very beneficial under regulated circumstances, therefore making all of the negative views less important.

Beep… beep… That's the sound of your oxygen machine after you've smoked medical Cannabis, that was supposed to “help” not harm you. Medical Cannabis is the use of Marijuana for an illness. The small benefits of medical marijuana do not justify it's legality because the medicine can cause addictive behavior, harm to those around you, and put you and others at a higher risk for disease.
Pain is a big part of life. Remedies are always being discovered and researched to combat that fact. Customers struggling with physical and or mental pain order the pills and place the prescriptions for a manufactured medicine filled with unknowns. A new remedy is rising in the medical field and it is natural with pure ingredients, this is known as medical marijuana. Medical marijuana, specifically cannabidiol (CBD), should be legalized for its therapeutic effects, decrease in prescription opioid problems, and the fact that it is in high demand.
Nowadays marijuana is not only sweeping the nation; it has become a worldwide sensation, and it is making appearances everywhere on the globe. Marijuana is the most commonly abused illegal in the US and around the world. No matter how one looks at the combination of words marijuana, depressant or hallucinogen, there is no positive projected outcome or connotation. If it is true that a depressant reduces functional and nervous activity and a hallucinogen causes perception-altering hallucinations, then Marijuana is a drug that causes hallucinations, while reducing motor and sensory activity, essentially leaving the user a dysfunctional, temporary victim of Panic and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. The most prominent effects of legalizing Marijuana
This impact of recreational marijuana use can cause harm to its users and those around them. One impact of marijuana abuse is that it can hurt our senses, which can lead to hallucinations, not hearing important announcements, or even car accidents. THC affects certain parts of the brain by destroying their cells. When THC affects the cerebellum, neocortex, and the hippocampus, then it can affect that person’s judgement, and learning and memory issues. When THC goes to the amygdala and the hypothalamus, then it can cause bad behavior, aggressiveness, rebellion, poor relationships, and an increased sexual appetite. Sadly, addiction comes when THC goes to the nucleus accumbens. A few states such as Colorado and Idaho, have legalized marijuana for recreational use. As a result in Denver, Colorado there has been an increase of emergency room visits, exposed to by youth from curiosity and it having a presence in some baked goods, 40% more drug expulsions at schools, and 10% increase in
There has also been talk about how marijuana affects your brain and change and individuals IQ. This can affect the brain because the highest density of cannabinoid receptors is found in the brain and these are the parts that influence pleasure, memory, thinking, concentrating, sensory and time perception, and coordinate movement. Using marijuana for a long period of time can affect these functions of an individual brain, such as distorted perceptions, impaired coordination, difficulty with thinking and problem solving and could possibly cause problems with learning and memory. Researchers also found other problems that could happen from the use of marijuana, such as schizophrenia, and high doses of marijuana could cause small psychotic reactions. Also with adolescents using marijuana they have a greater chance of their IQ dropping when they’re older. This is a significant drop of as much as 8 points.
Tetrahydrocannabinol has been around for thousands of years now and is an active chemical in cannabis. Cannabis comes from the leaves of the hemp plant, Cannabis Sativa. Cannabis contains 60 different psychoactive chemicals called cannabinoids, and tetrahydrocannabinol is one of them and the strongest one. THC has a long history of human use starting in Asia around 500 BCE. Those who grew it at the time used it solely for medicinal purposes and eventually introduced the plant to other continents like Africa, Europe, and the Americas. Early colonists grew hemp for purposes of using hemp fiber for the creation of textiles, rope, clothing, and paper while hemp seeds were used for consumption. Early hemp plants had low concentrations of tetrahydrocannabinol,

In today’s society legalization of cannabis for medicinal purposes can be found in the news daily. Many arguments over the topic seem to focus on the rights and wrongs, laws and legalization instead of the root of the matter which is the overall benefit to a patient from using cannabis and cannabis byproducts to treat their medical conditions. By conducting simple online searches and sitting down with patients who are already using cannabis it is not difficult to see that the natural treatment is useful for a wide range of health issues from migraine headaches to diagnoses as severe as AIDS and cancers. Of course this subject cannot be discussed without some information about legalization but it is my
“Why is marijuana against the law? It grows naturally upon our planet. Doesn’t the idea of making nature against the law seem to you a bit… unnatural?”- Bill Hicks. This is relevant because marijuana is naturally made by the Earth and not man made by humans such as other drugs. Marijuana should be legal for many reasons, here are three. First, it is less as dangerous as alcohol. Second, it can cure certain illnesses. Third, hemp is and marijuana are almost the same thing.
I feel as though this week’s reading is currently an epidemic in today’s society. Opioids today are a huge problem people they are so easy to get ahold of and drug dealers are mixing drugs together. Cannabis is a hot topic in our culture right now. The legalization of marijuana is something that people in the United States are trying to push. The amount of money that is being made in the states that have legalized Cannabis is tremendous. The other argument is that legalizing Cannabis is that it cuts down on the number of crime/prisoners in the system. With overcrowding in the prison system, being able to cut down on the number of prisoners in our jails can be huge. The other big problem that I have noticed especially in young people, is pills.
