What is ‘recruitment’?

Recruitment is the process of screening, and selecting qualified people for a job at organisation or firm. Selection then consists of the processes involved in choosing from applicants a suitable candidate to fill a post. By saying to choose a right people for a job means making sure that job holders have the right skills, knowledge and attitudes required by organisation to help them achieve firms objectives. In simple words recruitment is simply taking on employees to get the: * Right person * In the right place * At the right time;

There could be major reasons why do businesses recruit new staff. It could be due the factors such as: maternity leave, retirement. Also firm’s needs new staff as the old one may not have the skills required so they need to hire other person to fill the post. Also they have wide prospects of hiring, as new people bring fresh ideas into business. When staff who worked long time for your business gets old and need to be replaced by new person we called it retirement. All companies time to time have to recruit new employees as business need to run and the pregnant women’s taking maternity holidays, so they might employ someone for short-period of time. Also the business might be moving to other town and the existing staff cant make it, or don’t want to move to new location. Therefore when business expanding it will defiantly need to recruit new staff, as they are entering new markets.
