Red pandas, the lesser cousins of the giant panda, live in the high mountains of the Himalayas. Spending the majority of their lives in the branches of trees, they take the appearance of a fox with a black underbelly and the tail of a raccoon (Ailurus Fulgens). I have always considered them to be rather cute in every way. However, red pandas have recently been labeled as endangered (Ailurus Fulgens). I believe that if the circumstances leading to their excessive deaths are allowed to continue, then they will eventually die out and become extinct, and I don’t think this should be allowed to happen. The significance of acting to protect the red pandas is simple. There are circumstances leading towards the deaths of many red pandas. These deaths are more than the species can reproduce. We must act now in order to save them. …show more content…
For this I have several reasons that cause them to be vulnerable. I am going to talk about how they are being killed accidentally and also illegally by hunters (Ailurus Fulgens). I am also going to talk about the deforestation in the area for wood and to build roads that restrict their living space (Ailurus Fulgens). The next thing I am going to do is list out the ways that we can help to prevent this. In this I will specifically talk about how the people can bring awareness to red pandas by advertising it. Natural reserves can also be made to help protect them, as well as people coming down on those that may actually hurt them. I will also reference two ways the people in the area are trying to help to give specific examples. These are that they are trying to bring in tourism in other fields, as well as searching for alternative ways to make fuel to stop the deforestation (Edge Of Existence). If other resources come up with great information supporting why we need to help red pandas, how to help, or why they are threatened, then I will be sure to include that as
The Red Panda’s habitat is in the temperate forests in the Himalayas. These high mountain slopes tend to be covered with bamboo which is crucial to the Red Panda’s survival. The Red Panda is extinct from certain areas and population numbers are decreasing very fast in others. The Red Panda is an omnivore and its prey is bamboo, berries, and eggs. The Red Panda’s predators are snow leopards, marten, and humans. The Red Panda is red, brown, and white. The Red Panda is 24in- 47in and is 7lbs- 14lbs.
The red panda is a good climber and spends most time in trees during day, but is active at dusk, dawn, night time, and when foraging for food
First I will describe the red panda's habitat. A red panda's habitat consists of bamboo forests and grassy areas with lots of trees. They use trees to keep away from predators. Also, most of their food sources are in trees as well. They are common in areas such as Sichuan, Yunnan and other places in Asia. Red pandas are always on the move. They don't have dens or homes, so they find temporary holes in which they raise their young during their early stages. Then the red pandas pack up, and move again.
One of the reasons that giant pandas are going extinct is because they are
The Red Panda lives in the Himalayas (Southeast Asia Mountains, China), the temperate, forest mountain regions of that part, in the mountains. The Red Panda’s hard jaw and strong teeth, help the animal eat its primary food source, bamboo, much like it’s cousin, the Great Panda. Some Distinctive features of the Red Panda are white colored cheeks and ears, red stripes across their side, and of course the spots above its muzzle. The Red Panda is officially an endangered species across the world. They have fur all across their body, to keep them warm in the winter, and extra protection.
According to Holland, “Like many endangered species, giant pandas have declined as a growing human population has grabbed wild lands for human uses. That problem hasn’t gone away since the species was labeled endangered in 1990.”
The Giant Panda Bear, or Ailuropoda melanoleuca are mammals with an omnivorous diet. They are considered endangered-only 1,000 are left in the wild. The main cause for this decline is the erosion of habitat by clearing of the forest for crop cultivation. Institutions have been created soley for the purpose of conserving species dying of due to this industry. People around the world are working to study and help protect this majestic species God perfectly
In two different speeches by two different Native American chiefs, Chief Seattle and Red Cloud, a similar topic in that of the removal of Indians by the U.S. government, was addressed. However, the speeches by the two chiefs were very different, in terms of tone, figurative language, and the clarity of their message. In, "On the Red Man's Trail," Chief Seattle used much figurative language, especially similes, to get his point across. Some of the numerous examples are, "Yonder sky that has wept tears of compassion upon our fathers for centuries untold...," (paragraph 1) "My words are like the stars that never set," (paragraph 2) When our young men grow angry at some real or imaginary wrong, and disfigure their faces with black paint, their hearts also are disfigured and turn black...," (paragraph 6) "My people are ebbing away like the fast receding tide that will never flow again," (paragraph 12) and, "Some grim Fate of our race is on the Red Man’s trail, and wherever he goes he will still hear the sure approaching footsteps of his fell destroyer and prepare to stolidly meet his doom, as does the wounded doe that hears the approaching footsteps of the hunter." (paragraph 22) Meanwhile, in his speech after Wounded Knee, Red Cloud sparsely used figurative language. The vast majority of his statements were easy to comprehend and literal, with some examples being, "I will tell you the reason for the trouble. When we first made treaties with the Government, our old life and our
Due to the lack of knowledge about this species, the red panda was first recorded by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (and Natural Resources,) also known as IUCN, as Vulnerable in 1994. Shortly after this revelation there was an increase in interest, by conservationists, to pursue additional information and protection for this species. In 1996, the red panda was assessed and digressed to the Endangered status; the species remained that way for 12 years until another assessment was taken, and showed improvement in 2008, recording the red panda as Vulnerable once again. Unfortunately, due to an increase of human activity on the red panda habitat has spurred another decline in the population for the red panda. Angela Glatston, a red panda expert, assisted in the evaluation of the red panda for the IUCN in 2015; Glatston concluded her study and wrote via an email interview. “There is a structured form to complete which asks for information on distribution, numbers, threats, etc. Then I looked at criteria for status. The information on red panda suggested endangered so that was my recommendation. This report and recommendation are reviewed by the IUCN, and in this case they were accepted (2016).” As of April 2015, according to the IUCN, the red panda has returned to its status as
The population of giant pandas is decreasing so rapidly that it has reached the point that they are considered an endangered species. These black and white bears reside mainly in China where seventeen percent of the total population of pandas reside. They are habituated in bamboo forests, which are not only the panda 's’ home, but also their main source of food. A panda 's diet consists of ninety percent bamboo and ten percent of mushrooms, insects, fish, plants and other small rodents. These bamboo forests are being taken from them, because the human population is constantly expanding and using their bamboo forests as land for growing crops or to build roads. Combined with the natural dying on bamboo and logging, these defenseless panda bears are forced to seek new areas and see whether or not there is a sufficient amount of bamboo for them to consume, although many of them fail to do so and end up dying of starvation instead. As of today, there are only twenty nine diminished and fragmented areas that have the appropriate habitat to support the remaining panda bears. China’s pandas have been threatened with extinction, suffered from low birth rates, and have been ridiculed by human’s interference with their habitat; now they are faced with another obstacle, starvation.
Overall now that you have a more precise intuition on what pandas are, what they do, and why there are endangered. What that in mind the next time you stumble across an panda, clear those thoughts on having panda for dinner and instead fill them with thoughts on how to save from becoming extinct.
The population of pandas has been decreasing rapidly since 1990. Habitat loss and poaching are the two major reasons for the pandas becoming on the brink of extinction. Humans have been destroying the forests in which pandas live for decades now, causing them to have to relocate to regions they were not familiar with. Losing their natural habitat meant that they also lost their main food source. Pandas would starve causing hundreds to die.
A Ailurus fulgens lives in a high-altitude mountain forest. They are mostly found in the Himilayas Mountains. A red panda eats bamboo, berries, and eggs. Two of a Ailurus fulgens’s distinctive feature is that they have rusty colored thick fur and a striped face. Unfortunitly, red pandas are endangered. There are less 3,000 red pandas left in the world. A Ailurus fulgenshas skin that is only fur. The skin color could be red, brown, or white.
Giant pandas are among the rarest mammals in the world. There are probably less than 1,000 left in the wild. Although adult giant pandas have few natural enemies, the young are sometimes preyed upon by leopards. Habitat encroachment and destruction are the greatest threats to the continued existence of the giant panda. This is mainly because of the demand for land and natural resources by China's 1 billion inhabitants. To offset this situation, the Chinese government has set aside 11 nature preserves where bamboo flourishes and giant pandas are known to live.
The Giant Panda is one of the most misunderstood animals on the planet. For many years, it was believed to be a type of racoon, like the similarly named red panda. However, genetics testing and observation have revealed that the panda is in fact, a bear. It has several adaptations that make it unusual. First is the fact that it has six digits on the front paws, giving it an opposable thumb ideal for holding onto the stalks of bamboo which it consumes in great amounts. The genitalia of the male are rear-pointing and small which is also decidedly bearish, and much more like those of the red panda. It has only been since 1995 that the Panda has been officially considered a bear.
