No one is perfect. We all have flaws that make us who we are. I am no different, I may have many strengths and talents, but I also have many weaknesses. Throughout the essay, I talk about myself. Me. Who I am as a person. Over the course of the year we’ve read many articles on philosophy and books that show characters with different personalities and beliefs. In the essay, I will be talking about myself and my own opinions about physiological models and characters in the story. I begin to compare myself with the merchant in the book The Alchemist and how we have our own self dharma. I continue with explaining my strengths and weaknesses that make me who I am and I end it with my views on a reading on philosopher Howard Gardner.
In the book The Alchemist, the crystal merchant and I have contrasting subjective, Dharma to self. The specific dharma is about success: and staying the same; I choose to keep striving for improvement while the merchant is okay with staying the same.In the book, the merchant talks about his dream to one day fulfill his last obligation to the Koran, pilgrimage to Mecca. His reasoning he does not want to go to the Mecca, is because he thinks that, him completing the five obligations, he would not have anything to look forward to besides his store. The thought of Mecca is what is keeping him motivated to work in the store in the first place. Going to the Mecca would cause a drastic change in his life, and he doesn’t like change.
