Reflection Of Technical Communication

I have truly enjoyed writing for most of my life and after this class I will continue to enjoy writing hopefully with more skill. I have always viewed myself as a fairly strong writer and this class has reaffirmed that for me, but it has also shown weaknesses in my writing. As an introduction level class this has been one of my favorites; at some point I will take a higher level, even though it is not required for my major. Even though this class is almost over I am continuing to learn. I also love that this class will help me with literally ever other class in my college career. I am not a particularly strong reader, but as my writing skills improve so do the reading skills. While in this class I have learned a lot about everything from what I can improve, to subjects that interest me, and constructing a successful paper.

Unit 1- D1: Explain how communication skills can be used in health or care environment in effective communication

Communication is usually taken for granted in our every day to day living as we use it without thought. Good communication skills are needed in the workplace and especially with nursing staff to and from patients when giving first hand care. Good or bad communication can make there experience within the health care setting a positive or negative one and can leave a lasting impression. A good health care provider can use there communication skills to put a patient at ease with a few comforting words or gestures, a lack of positive communication in the health care setting could leave the patient feeling neglected, ignored and not valued as a patient.

Throughout this course, I was able to assess and evaluate my weaknesses and strengths in writing. This class has truly brought out my ability to write, a skill I did not believe I had. I now know what it takes to become a college-level writer. Also, at the beginning of the course I did not particularly enjoy writing. Now, however, I have a greater respect for

Communication is one of the most vital and effective keys to any profession. It is one thing that is vital to any profession and is highly recommended to be educated for education professions. When your part of a health care profession it involves talking to different cultures and audients, like patients and clients. For all types of the people that you will talk to will receive different types of communication skills. There three types of communication skills, writing, listening, and speaking. These three things are extremely important for communication and with any healthcare provider.

This course was comprised of many learning activities; each was designed to help me achieve the course learning outcomes. I have taken two college English classes in the past; however, it has been several years since my last college class. I have some experience in writing and this class definitely helped me get back into writing. I often have trouble brainstorming and capturing the subject I need to write about. This class definitely helped me overcome the challenges I faced in writing and being able to effectively express my ideas in a clear and concise manner. Not to mention, it definitely helped build my writing foundation through a step by step approach to each assignment. Therefore, this class bolstered my writing and communication skills.

Throughout the first eight week’s courses, Amy demonstrated a high level of competencies in understanding and applying theory into practice. She was also able to utilize the supports provided to her through the college to vastly improve her professional writing skills, limiting her grammatical errors and increasing her well-deserved passing grades.

Communication skills are very important no matter where or who you are. Communication within a workplace can determine whether a business or individual is successful or not. Understanding effective communication in a medical setting helps hospitals and doctor offices develop a work environment that is able to communicate effectively with coworker, patients and doctors in order to take of the patients needs. Listening, clarity and Patience are three main keys to effective communication within a workplace. In this paper, the author will describe an experience within the medical field work place where communication was effective.

I began this course with goals to significantly improve my writing. I knew there were challenges for me to overcome, because I have not written much at all since high school, which has been more than twenty four years ago. Nonetheless, I was up for the challenge and each week I made sure to do exactly as instructed in the weekly syllabus, reading each every assignment very carefully. At first I felt overwhelmed, but as I completed the homework and discussion post assignments for the weeks prior to the major papers, the overwhelming feelings subsided and I concentrated on each task at hand.

Communication is an essential tool I can use to meet the needs of patients. It is a basic requirement of my job role to communicate with individuals and their families, other members of staff on a daily basis.

Attitude: Writing has never been my thing, at least when it comes to essays and research papers. It can take me awhile to get my ideas flowing. I’m very excited to complete this course so I can become a better writer. Although I often don’t like writing research papers or essays, I don’t feel that any personal feelings towards writing will have any negative effects on my quality of work. I’m looking forward to what this course has to teach me.

Being able to give and receive information is the key to provide effective care to the patient. Positive attitude towards work and sharing information is needed as this will lead in giving quality and satisfying care and promote wellbeing. Also informing patient about their care is important as this will help build trust between you and the patient .If there is communication between nurse and patient it increases the nurse understanding of the patient’s needs and values. In nursing, effective communication plays a key role in patient-focused communication between health professionals and patients. This is because nursing is essentially an interaction between health professionals and patients where communications happens at all times. Nurses who communicate well are able to put patients at ease, which leads to patients sharing information regarding their feelings and experiences, which can help healthcare professionals improve their outcomes. Good communication also allows nurses to deliver care that is unique to each patient. Once a patient tells the nurse about his fears and symptoms, the nurse can record that information and work towards a diagnosis. Ultimately, to be a successful nurse, excellent communication skills are required.
