When I heard about A-HEC of a Summer, it was from my sister who was participating in the program. When she came home, she would always talk about all of the shocking things she did and learned, and I was intrigued. As a result of A-HEC, she seemed like she knew what career she wanted to pursue, and I wanted to experience it for myself.
Being in this program will give me an opportunity to have a hands-on experience as a volunteer and be able to explore deeper into medical professions. Volunteering will help me see where my strengths and weaknesses are, as well as develop new skills and build knowledge and experience. Having a hands-on experience will let me familiarize myself with the requirements to succeed in certain careers.
There are
I am interested in being a part of the Camp MD program because I really love the medical field and I want to make new friends there who share the same thought towards the medical field as me. Anything and everything medical related has always been so fascinating to me ever since I was a little kid. It has had my eye because my family was always at the hospital dealing with surgeries, chemo treatments, and illnesses. And I thought it was cool how the doctors were able to help those who were sick and dying. In school, I have taken a medical terminology class in order to help get me started with the medical field, and next year I will be taking an anatomy and physiology class along with a CNA class to help pay for schooling. I am wanting to become
If accepted into the Junior Volunteer Program, I believe that my relationship with the community will deepen and improve. If accepted, I would be interacting with people of all ages with different cultural backgrounds. This would allow me to have a deeper appreciation the community and its variety of cultures. I would be able to connect with the community. As a result, my relationship with the community would likely become more mutual. In the process of volunteering and improving the community, I will certainly learn new things that I have never learned before. For example, I have been to healthcare locations many times, but I have never seen what happens behind the scenes. This volunteer opportunity would finally allow me to experience what
My nature to serve attracts me to the Houston Methodist Summer Teen Volunteer Program. My goals are to gain experience and knowledge about careers in medicine, and to give back to the community. I would like to learn a lot about how people live by the ways they get hurt or how they deal with being sick. It’s a good study of human behavior because you see people at their highest and lowest extremes of emotion. To further my goal of pursuing a career in medicine, it is important for me to get hands on experience of serving people and executing work in a responsible manner. When a person donates their time, they give hope to someone who needs it. I feel that I will be also benefited because I get to see how my contribution has made a difference.
Camp Cardiac offers a variety of skills and experiences which will expose me to numerous career choices in the field of medicine and the diligence of surgeons and other doctors. I am interested in going into surgery, specifically cardiothoracic surgery and I believe this camp will give me the experience I need to understand what I will be getting myself into and getting an idea of what I will be doing in the future. I am open to other careers in the medical field to such as a physician and and nurse practitioner so what is nice about this program is that it will expose me to other careers as well. I am also interested in talking to the medical students about how they got into medical school and what it takes to reach their level.
Being involved with the Magis Clinic would provide me the opportunity to continue being involved with serving my local community. It will also expose me more to the issues and health problems that low-income and homeless populations are afflicted by and the resources available to them. Additionally, involvement in the Magis Clinic also gives me the opportunity to work as a team with others with similar interests in serving the underserved populations in the community. By being an officer in the Magis Clinic, I will develop greater leadership skills and learn about how I can be more of an advocate for the underserved and my future patients.
In the movie 500 days of summer we see the communication concept of personal relationships between various characters that are in Tom’s life (main character). Personal relationships are voluntary commitment between individuals. Tom works at a greeting card company as a card writer. He has a few friends and is seemingly happy with his life. One day at a meeting, Tom's boss introduces the board room to Summer, his new assistant. He is immediately attracted to Summer although Tom is a little shy he doesn’t say much to her. Keeping himself in a role limited interaction. But as the movie moves along we see the development and destruction of Tom and Summer relationship. Through stages of friendship to lovers and then strangers.
I would like to attend camp med because I feel it would be an excellent learning experience that would line up with my career goal of becoming an EMT and eventually an emergency room physician or pediatric oncologist. While I am already in tenth grade and still contemplating my later career choice, I am one hundred percent sure I am going to start out as an EMT and go deeper into the medical field from there. I feel that camp med would help me to make the decision about what my second career should be, and how to get there.
Harassment, bullying, isolation and depression are things a nine year old should not be experiencing, but for a little girl living who's living on Venus, this is exactly what is happening. The short story “All Summer in a Day by Ray Bradbury”, takes place on the planet Venus where everyday is like the next, full of rain. To the residents of Venus, this is normal, unless you just moved here five years ago. This is the case for Margot who has to deal with the torture of remembering life on Earth. Every seven years, the sun shines on Venus. For just two hour, the rain stops pouring and the sky turns blue. Margot has been waiting for this day ever since she moved to Venus. Unfortunately, the other students lock her in the closet and she misses the opportunity to see the sun that she loves and misses so much. A theme throughout the story is that the children of Venus are jealous of Margot because she is different, this is shown when the author describes Margot, when Margot is in the shower, and when the children lock her in the closet.
Aside from keeping volunteering as a constant aspect of my life, I would like to volunteer at St. David’s Medical center because I would be able to learn about working in a hospital and in the medical field as I volunteer. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in biology and graduate school is a must, but I have yet to decide of medical school is the path I want to embark on. Volunteering at a medical center would give me the insight on not only particular jobs in various departments, but I would also have the privilege of experiencing the atmosphere of a hospital.
I have earned 5 hours for this activity by learning about my career goals and medical schools in general. I recently visited the University of Florida's campus and visited the UF Health Center. They have a very nice facility and they do a lot of research. It is now the goal to get into UF's medical school. We did talk to an admissions counselor, who suggested that as soon as I get into college, I should started doing internships and be a part of a research team. This will be an area of growth I will need to work on since I tend to be shy when it comes to going certain organizations I am new to.
I have always had the ambition to become a physician in my future. What's more, being a volunteer at the OMFS Clinic has spurred me to turn into one significantly more. I have gained much more knowledge about life in the medical field. It’s all to
The Atlantis Project was appealing to me because it not only offers preparation for medical school through clinical shadowing and MCAT prep, but also helps to train well-rounded future physicians. Community volunteering, for example, gives students the opportunity to experience life in other parts of the world, and to be more culturally competent and aware. In addition, this program was unique to me in the sense that fellows engage in cultural opportunities outside of the hospital, and conduct activities together that will foster a strong support system and social network.
With this program my dream of being a neurosurgeon will become a little more obtainable because I will have more experience, foundation, and give me some examples of what it’s like working with patients and in a hospital. I want this opportunity to be ahead of my fellow classmates so that maybe I can graduate early and be the youngest in my field. Since the brain is one of the most important parts of the body the more experience I have the
However, this move has been beneficial in exposing me to UAB and the EMSAP. The foundation of my interest in EMSAP lies the defined purpose of the program, getting accepted into medical school as a high school senior. Going to medical school and becoming a doctor would be a dream come true. Beyond allowing me the opportunity to shadow outstanding physicians, volunteer in a hospital, and give me a good academic foundation, the program will also allow me to explore my interests in biomedical engineering and tie my engineering expertise to me practicing medicine. In addition to the honor it would be to be directed and mentored by a well-regarded team of doctors, it would grant me the opportunity to establish an outstanding foundation which I could thrive off, as a product of UAB, EMSAP, and their medical
I have chosen to participate in Partners in Wellness because of the abundance of opportunities that are provided within the program. I am particularly interested in participating in clinical volunteering at the Oncology and Neurology department. Partners in Wellness also offers possibilities which most organizations on campus do not have, one being the physician shadowing program.
