Self-admittedly, I stayed very passive in the construction of the presentation. It was our first time working in a group dynamic, and i wasn't sure how we would mesh or who was going to take what role. Instead of being a leader and stepping up, I hoped someone else would. At meetings I would work on my own presentation, but could have done so much more in terms of aiding my teammates with visuals as well as arguments and facts for their presentations. In taking a passive role, I found myself distanced from the group and at points saw myself as the odd man out. Being scored the lowest in my group for this presentation, hurt me on a personal level. I vowed that this would no longer be the case. In the Macy's competition, I really tried

The problem we are presented with is to optimize the amount of boxes of shoes to be transported from 2 warehouses to 10 different Macy’s stores such that the cost is minimized. The main consideration of this problem are the price differences associated with each combination of transports. This means that each combination of warehouse to mall has a different shipping cost. Additionally, there are three different shipping costs based on the quantity of boxes being shipped. Combining these factors results in 60 decision variables which makes it necessary to use linear programming in order to minimize the cost.

My summer at Governor’s School was a time spent revealing what it takes to be a good leader. I was given an opportunity to present myself as a leader when the Natural Science faculty chose me, along with three others, to collaboratively create a presentation about the expectations that science often necessitates. The way I would confidently express my ideas and thoughts through my active participation in class lead me to be chosen. I was ecstatic to spearhead this prime opportunity to break down some common misconceptions in science, so I immediately began to prepare my presentation to share with the other presenters. I did this to establish the foundation of the content the presentation would include. However, what I was unaware of was how one of the presenters, Olivia*, was doing the same thing. During our first brainstorm meeting, we began to butt heads instantly. Thus, I began to feel a sense of foreboding before every collaborative session with this group as it only seemed to end in disagreements and arguing. Our escalating display of leader tug-of-war soon bred tension in our work group, leaving the other two presenters feeling ignored and uncomfortable.
So, with that, we started our presentation with a good bang. They said we impressed them with our dedication toward wanting to become ambassadors. After the presentation, Bailey, who almost shows no emotion, said “great job guys!” I admitted I was proud as well. After that, we passed out our goodie bags to other teams. We saw the hard work they put in to their projects. We also saw their robots, as we had a practice table in the middle of the “warmup room” full of pit stops. I admit I was pretty hungry, as I had only eaten a quarter of a sub. It was about 12:30 now, and we were getting ready for our project. Our project was definitely a complex project, but if it worked, it would have big benefits. So, we entered the room and they said that this was their last team before they had to go to lunch. That made us nervous and affected how we presented. 30 seconds in, right after handing the judges the cards, Sydney forgot her script. Due to that, we skipped a huge part of our presentation. We knew we were definitely not going to get the project award. Our schedule was tight. A half hour after we finished our project presentation, we had our robot game. We were definitely top ten at our
To analyse the presentation and teamwork I need to be able to understand everyone has different experiences and different ways of working and had their own view on teamwork. My confidence grew as I got to know the team. Giving the presentation has helped me with my confidence, which I will need when I am working in the health care. I have also learned to speak up more and encourage others to take part when they where being quiet and not pulling their weight. It was good to do research using the appropriate methods, looking at journals and professional sites. I managed to hold it together during the presentation in front of everyone. I knew the presentation was not going to go as well has it could due to the lack of practice. The reason I was so nervous was
