a) List the three presentations in your section (can describe using your own words)
The three presentations in my section were focused on informing us on alcohol and drugs. The first presentation that I went to was a word association exercise, where the TA would name a drug and our teams would have to make a list of words we associate with that drug. For example, one of the words was marijuana so me and my team wrote down different words that we thought of when we heard marijuana (drug, smoke, highschool, teenagers, high, etc). The next station was two truths and one lie. Here, we had to guess which fact about different drugs and on campus regulations were true and which were false. The last activity was a fill in the blank song activity. This

What was positive about the experience/what do you think went well? Why? (must be specific when you explain!)
I thought that overall RAD day was a positive experience. It was nice to get up and interact with different people in our sections. I also liked how interactive that activities were and having candy as incentives is always a good addition. In addition, I thought that the games were very creative and well thought out. They were easy to relate to and fun to play.
c) List at least 4 things you learned during RAD day, that are important to you
I learned that marijuana can be laced with things like cocaine.
I learned that you can only have liquor or beer in your dorm (if 21) not both.
I learned that if you get caught with drugs or alcohol then you have to attend a class called basics and pay 100 dollars.
I learned that they will contact your parents if they find anything like drugs or alcohol that you are not allowed to have in your

We were able to travel more efficiently with our teams all going to the same place and at each activity we had to split up into smaller groups so it wasn't entirely the same dynamic. I think that it helped people feel less hectic and more normal to travel around the room with our teams.
f) What else can we do to improve future RAD days? (must make at least 2 suggestions and explain why each one would have a positive impact)
In the future maybe you could work on the timing of the activities, this would have a positive effect because I noticed that the word association tasks went a lot faster than some of the other tasks. Overall, just making sure each activity is equally timed out.
Another suggestion would be maybe to not reward the students with candy, I feel like this goes against a lot of the things we have been learning in class. Maybe instead of jolly ranchers and airheads have things like trail mix or pretzels. Something that students would still enjoy without providing more temptation and processed foods.
g) What topics would you like to have addressed in this Unit (not just RAD day, but the entire Unit) that were not covered?) Why do you feel these topics are important for college
I was able to learn about many issues which our city is faced with, issues of which they and the city must solve. There were more issues than I would have ever imagined. I believe this meeting covered almost ten issues, even though not all issues were resolved this meeting; a lot of thinking goes into the solution of each issue. Also, prior to this, I had no clue how our local police departments paid for replacement equipment. I mean, I figured the taxpayers provided the funding, but I had no clue it went through the council. This also applies to many things. I had no clue our local government had such a large impact on the community. I always thought it was the federal government that had the largest impact and influence on the community. It was definitely a unique experience, which was as interesting as any teenager would imagine it to
They looked at my individual situation, not just that I was an addict/criminal, and they based their decisions on my personal needs.
Candy and sugary soft drinks sold in schools can be less money spent for parents. It reduces not having money for parents. In addition, it reduces arguments from happening between kids and parents because the kid will get mad if the parent says no they can not have any candy or soft drink. Then, the parent will get mad at the kid because he/she wants the candy. However, It prevents the parent from doing something important with their money. Also It will keep the parent from spending all their money instead of letting the kid pay out of their pocket.
For most of the day I watched the girls work on their group poster. Each poster had a drug classification on it that they had to research information about it and present what they found to the group. These girls worked hard and my nursing diagnosis for the group was readiness for enhanced knowledge. The SMART outcome for these girls is learn more about their assigned drug and look up more helpful research. As well as, teach one another more about their assigned drug this next week. Some interventions would be to help the girls do more research, encourage the girls to learn more about the other drugs they did not cover on their posters and to reflect on how their personal drug of choice has effected their lives. Next week I will evaluate how the girls talk about their assigned drugs to one another and ask if they have learned more information about the drugs effects.
Once a student turns eighteen, or attends school beyond secondary school, the rights of access to all the student’s records—including GPA, academic transcript, academic warning, academic probation, or discipline records—transfer to the student. Without specific, written permission from the student, parents are not privy to the
3) What did you like about the event? What did you dislike? What did you learn from the event (BE SPECIFIC)?
Did the activity go as planned? Why or why not? Overall the lesson didn’t go as planned, but I think overall it was still an effective lesson. The time I thought I would have to teach the lesson was a lot different the time I actually got to teach the lesson. I had to just scrap certain part of the lesson to make it fit in the time I was given. I didn’t get to work with all the students because the concurrent center my cooperating teacher was doing. The
things. He taught me about tobacco, alcohol, Retro Bill, peer pressure, and more! One thing I learned was that alcohol is a drug. I did not know that! Here are three of the many things I learned in D.A.R.E. class. My topics are tobacco, Retro Bill, and alcohol.
Some colleges follows the state rules about If you’re not over 21, you cannot legally drink any
In the first place, you may agree that forcing students not to eat junk food “... undermines students’ ability to learn how to make healthy decisions for themselves”, stated by J. Justin Wilson. I strongly disagree because I believe that instead, this will help a student set good habits or a routine. If they are not given the option to eat high-calorie snacks then sooner or later they will not even realize that they haven't ate junk food. I can speak from personal experience, my family is not a very big soda drinker, we rarely have soda in the house. The
We felt that periodically asking the students questions would be a simple way to make them feel like they are being involved and not just watching us present. Afterward introducing mushrooms, we started talking about the actual drug inside mushrooms. The PowerPoint was primarily worded in layman’s terms for everyone to understand. The last slide of the PowerPoint contained a video that was supposed to simulate the high that comes from using psilocybin. Everyone had an interesting reaction to the video. Some people were scared, and others were intrigued. The last two activities were included in the handout that we provided to the students. There was a crossword puzzle provided with terms used in the PowerPoint, and there was maze provided. Before completing the mazes, everyone was provided with instructions to spin around 20 times before completing the maze. The purpose of the instructions was to create a discombobulated feeling like the drug does. I believe that everyone enjoyed themselves, and hopefully, they retained some
By making sure that I’m involved working with all of my teams, I will show more trust in every group and I will be able to better know what is happening in the entire business. The greatest difference; however, that this will make is that I can better utilize by ability to recognize strengths and weaknesses of my team players and make sure they are working in the right place to make the biggest impact. By being able to see more of the players and what their strengths and needs are we will be able to make improvements more quickly and efficiently, which will continue to help our facility improve and
The DRA2 is helpful in assessing a student’s comprehension and fluency skills. The comprehension section is acceptable because it requires a student to make predictions on what they read and answer questions that have to do with the book after reading. The drawback to this assessment is the amount of practice the assessor needs to be able to give the test so they can get valid results. I do not think that I was prepared enough to get accurate results but with enough practice I think I will be able to get those
Q2 What are the three main areas or topics you wish to develop in the next 12 months and how will you achieve these?
This has numerous benefits, from being able to stay focused to building rapport with your team player or workers, to even resolving conflict and reducing stress in the long run.
