For this internship experience, I spent over eight hours preparing for the beginning of the school year. I worked closely with the Director of Curriculum and Staff Development (my mentor), the Director of Facilities, the Head Custodian, the Director of Finance, and the Director of Technology. This experience mainly focused on ECLL Standard 3.1 with overlap of standard 3.5 because the main activities in which I was involved was the preparation for the two staff-only days that kickoff the school year. Before beginning the many aspects of planning these days, I consulted with my mentor. Together, we examined the options for scheduling based on the activities that needed to occur during those two days: convocation, various meetings, teacher room preparation time, training for PowerSchool, training for AESOP (timesheets, staff absence requests, etc.), and a speaker on wellness. We determined time slots and locations for the whole group AESOP and social-emotional training. The convocation, various meetings, and teacher room preparations follow the same schedule each year, so we just reused that schedule with minor updates. We met with the Director of Finance to determine budget for breakfast, lunch, and the number of facilitators we could use for the PowerSchool training. I met with the Director of Facilities and Head Custodian to determine which areas of the buildings we could or could not utilize, and discussed parking options for convocation when everyone in the
First Year Seminar is a beneficial, getting started-like course provided by West Coast University during the first term of the program. Since the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is very rigorous this course is helpful in adjusting new students, such as myself, to a very demanding, fast-pace program. This class focuses on topics that help students organize and understand oneself and the mission of WCU mission to achieve the greatest success as a student. In my Signature Assignment term paper I will focus on my experience with FYS and what information I’ve gained to help me understand my learning style, strengths and weaknesses I have as a student, how working collaboratively benefits me and how I will go about achieving success at WCU.
As an intern, my first week was spent attending both the Principal-Leadership Conference and the Finance Conference led by the Anson County School’s Central Office. This time was spent absorbing and reflecting upon the large amounts of information being presented.
At the beginning of this internship, I did not know what to expect. It was the first time I was going into a professional work place and a professional setting every day. Therefore, my expectations were based on my assumptions of an internship that I have observed through the media and the opinions of other students.
This fall semester, I carried out an internship in the legal department of El Sol, Jupiter’s Neighborhood Resource Center. I assisted the legal program coordinator in filling out paperwork for clients and sat in on consultations with El Sol’s laborers about immigration and visa status, wage disputes, traffic tickets, and other legal troubles. On my first day, I quickly learned how difficult it is, as a part of a non-profit organization, to give people all the help that they need. Part of El Sol’s mission is to “give services to those in need” and they succeed at that in many ways. For example, El Sol’s School for Parents program taught parents positive reinforcement techniques for disciplining their children, such as praising good behavior and listening to their kids. The program as very well-liked by the participants, who felt that they learned useful lessons through the classes. However, in the legal department, it was more difficult to help people to the full extent of their needs.
Internship provide the best opportunity to use educational/theoretical knowledge and learn practical knowledge as “apply knowledge and gain experience.” Internship report is submitted to Ms. Laura Logiacco (field placement coordinator at Cambrian @ Hanson), which is essential as per my course of study, and I did my internship under to supervision and guidance of Mr. Amarjeet Mann at Mann travel.
Not surprisingly, this semester’s internship has posed the most obstacles and challenges but coupled with many new understandings, it has been my most productive. The end of any school year is busy and adding 45 additional hours of responsibility poses an arduous mission. In reflecting on my understandings, I realized that my internship experience could be compared to McTighe’s Understanding by Design concept. Ultimately, the goal of the internship experiences was to able to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the semester, combined with that of past semesters, and demonstrate who I am as a professional teacher leader.
The internship that I acquired during the summer of 2010 at the Greenwood Sports and Industrial Rehabilitation Center (GSIRC), allowed me to gain an immeasurable amount of experience during my tenure at this facility. Within this period, the exposure to new concepts within the physical therapy industry allowed me to observe and work hands on with patients of all ages and disabilities that exposed me to various treatment plans and programs to restore client’s mobility. The essential Physical Education and Exercise Science (PEES) courses taken at Lander University were beneficial to my academic knowledgebase, which prepared me and developed me for the opportunity within the physical therapy discipline. Working as
I had the opportunity of interning at EY from June 3rd to August 3rd, 2015. I interned in the Baltimore office with 26 other interns as a part of the Assurance service line. Over the course of the internship, I had the opportunity to attend regional training for interns in Washington D.C. in addition to a service line training, lasting a total of 5 days combined. We received general information in training about the company, their mission, organizational structure, and employee expectations. The training that covered the service line was very extensive and structured. We learned about the expectations for auditors during an engagement as well as how to work some of the EY programs used during an audit so that we would have a better idea of how to complete assigned tasks while working on the clients we were scheduled to work with. Additionally, they also answered important questions about how to interact with a client and explained the importance of independence.
It has been a while since I started at the internship and I am really glad I decided to work here. I think the experience in this area is a good preview of my career and future. I am learning some important skills and finding out some things about myself and the tough skin I will need in order to stay in the area of juvenile support.
My internship is conveniently located about a mile up the road from the University of Maryland campus in College Park. Although I don’t have strict schedule I agreed with my supervisor that it would be best to show up in the morning when most of the employees are working in order to communicate and work with them more efficiently. When it comes to responsibilities, the buildings and facilities tracking report is the most time-consuming and demanding responsibility I have been assigned, as it requires me to follow several steps, pulling different reports from the accounting system to reconcile and later double-check my work, taking at least one quarter of my time in the office monthly. Also, my responsibilities also require me to compile reports on information and the anticipated cost of future scientific conferences and identify and report ConcurGov rejects to travel specialist, both consuming about a tenth of my time in the office. Finally, the rest of my time is divided almost equally among special projects with the deputy director and the Chief of fiscal services that range from creating special documents on word and excel to double checking accounting in reports and getting trained by one of the specialist on what to do in special situations in the reports or doing individual training with FMMI courses on AgLearn.
The internship I have is at UHS in the operating room (OR). It is a pretty fast-paced environment that requires one to be quick on their feet, organized and prepared. I have only been at my internship for 3 weeks, but I have already learned a lot about how this unit works. So far, it is a combination of what I was expecting and not what I was expecting.
Since I plan on entering the healthcare field, it was one of the first classes I put on my schedule. After being in this class for a semester, I can attest that it was more than I had expected and wished for. I was pleased with my placement in the Ambulatory Surgrey Center because that is where I plan to work post college. Although surgery sounds exhilarating, I will be honest and say the ASC was not very exciting; but I was still able to experience several instances in the hospital atmosphere. My daily task consisted of snapping gowns and filling towel warmers, so I was not able to see “cool” things. However, I am grateful because I was able to see the real side of healthcare: patients, mistakes, and nurse interactions.
Interning at at Charles England Elementary School has helped me, myself, a lot. Since I had to deal with students and sometimes they wouldn’t want to cooperate, I feel like I’ve became more patient. I also have found myself being more independent, but I think my growing up has had a part in that too. Working in the restaurant, I think I’ve started to speak for myself more and get whatever I need to do, done by myself. At first I used to be shy and I would kind of have to force myself to do certain things. Now, I just do whatever I have to do and I deal with it. When I was working with the students, I would have to constantly wait on them sometimes to calm down. At first they would aggravate but then I realized that the time that they take was taken from them and not me.
After this internship made me realised how diverse engineering fields and there is so much new knowledge to learn, considering myself with electrical power engineering background working in construction site which may related on civil engineering field. When I studied the project plan documentations, there is some new term and I need to find extra information on the Internet myself to understand more about the ongoing project. Having said that, knowledge that I have obtained throughout my study in ECU proved to be useful such as basic CAD, mechanic and material courses during my first and second year which make me easier to understand the structure drafting of the floor plans.
Today was the first day of internship. I attended a new hire training secession about 8 hours and heard about the history of Novogradac & Company LLP, met the partners of the firm, completed all new hire paperwork and turned in to HR. In addition, I learned about ProSystem Engagement which company has been using for audit and tax preparation software. At the end of the day, all intern received a tour of office and met their own team members.
