The first paper was Practice 1 regarding our states within stress from our lives. I felt that this exercise was useful from the start of class because we acknowledge how we are on a day to day basis with such levels of stress. It was an easy assignment not for that fact of the work but because it was simple to pick from a variety of events that would trigger such responses that would be quick to note down. With class we see the statistics of these factors such as stress, tension, energy, and mood. From how the first assignment was listed it was interesting on how we were able to get so much information from such events, we were able to dissect the “Self-Talk” that would occur, and after jotting this down it was easy to see how I was responding to my environment mentally. To list out the detail of how our reaction occurred I felt that it was incredibly important that we were given these rows of categories to fill out, because while doing it we realize how much goes into our reaction from such stimulus. In class we can see how dangerous the statistics are for going on in our lives such as this, and so doing these practices are important, because putting ourselves in these experiments based off findings we see how we can use tools and skills to better our lives. In groups we found similar to opposite reactions. Some people may have been feeling hot, or cold. Some may have had no “Self-Talk” while others were able to break down the situation and talked themselves into a calmer
Keeping a stress journal has opened my eyes to the opportunities that I have around me Everyday. I wake up and ultimately do the same thing day in and day out; the only difference is the stress I encounter. It is hard to believe, it took an assignment to open my eyes about the great things in my life. Reading over my stress journal analysis, I have learned to care for the people in my life and I have notice I have a lot of hate and angry built inside. In my life there many stressors, the main one I have notice through tis project is angry.
3. What was the most difficult aspect about this paper, and what did you learn from the attempt?
For example: Some people when faced with a difficult situation react in a very calm and relaxed manner, while some panics.
Substantial progress has been made by academic researchers to gain insight into social determinants of health. Consequently, the Centre for Urban Health at the WHO Regional Office for Europe approached the International Centre for Health and Society at University College Hospital London to help summarise research work on social determinants of health in ten messages with the main aim of translating research advances into action (Marmot and Wilkinson, 2005). The ten messages were subsequently published as The Solid Facts (Wilkinson and Marmot 1998) which include stress, social gradient, early life, social exclusion, work, unemployment, social support, addiction, food and transport. The aim of this brief essay is to demonstrate the impact of stress as a social determinant of health.
In this section I have combined the texts, in which I did the most analysis of my own works (Memo#1 and Memo#2) and the other works I have learned from (Week Reflections). Week 2 Reflection was a very important task for me, because it was the first analysis I have done in Writing 39 A class. In these exercises I have practiced the analysis skills, which I have learned. in these works I have worked on effective reflection on my own works, which helped me to find more strengths and weaknesses in my paper and improve
To overcome anxiety and writer´s block, I decided to follow the strategy of choosing a particular aspect of the topic
In my work place setting, I work for a agency who works with families with children that are autistic or have behavioral problems. Moreover, with my job being an agency there are significant amount of flaws within this organization. Agencies in general seem to have many flaws. Furthermore, I experience a few stressors that effect me daily. One stressor that I experience is having to go to weekly supervision every Friday without pay. This is a stressor for me because my job location is not as close to my house, granted about 25 minutes from my home. So, the stress for me is driving all the way to my job location just to speak on actions of my client that are consistent each week. Other jobs that I have applied to previously compensate their workers for supervision weekly or give the option to have phone conferences about our clients.
Stress is a physiological reaction of the body where different defense mechanisms get into it to affront a difficult situation that could be perceived as threatening or critical by the body.
In psychology book, define “stress is a negative emotional creates and distrusted or upset the normal function of our physical and mental balance”. If we compare our modern people lifestyle and our grandparent traditional lifestyle and their lives longer than us. Because of their lifestyle was simple, satisfied, more physically social connections, not run behind money, and not compete. This modern generation people having more stressful lifestyle because of their lifestyle have more competition, demandable, running behind money, worry about future and less physically social networks. Also, some people are working two different workplaces, less sleep and they always think such as “what I should do for taking care of my family and complete children's
According to “The American Institute of Stress” there are numerous emotional and physical disorders that we have with our health. (The American Institute of Stress;IAS) Stress can overrule and overwhelm people's lives. The definition of stress for most people depend on the negative feelings and emotions they produce. Here in a few moments i’m going to explain how. There are so many gestures and indications that are with stress. People don’t think they could be stressed out so easily, dealing with work, school, working at home,feeding/supporting a family, and, animals to take care of. Most people get stressed to the max; because, they don’t have enough time to do all the chores they need to get done, in an amount of time that is needed.
Stress is something we are all familiar with. Some of us experience it more than others, but we all know the terrible feelings that accompany stress. I kept a stress log for two weeks, which helped me lower my amount of daily stress. I was able to notice patters about what caused my stress, what coping skills I was using, and what changes I could make to help lower my levels of stress.
"To be totally without stress is to be dead" ( Hans Selye, 1976, as cited in Coon & Mitterer, 2016). Stress is a constant factor in my life. I do not know if its something I put on my self or if my life is actually stressful. Maybe I have a healthy level of stress in my life, and I just do not handle it well.
As stated in the book, people whose lives are isolated and without intimacy are likely to become depressed at times of stress (Comer, 2015). Depressed people often display weak social skills and communicate poorly (Comer, 2015). Those who lack social support remain depressed longer than those who have a supportive spouse or warm friendships (Comer, 2015). People who suffer from depression also look for reassurance from others (Comer, 2015). Women are twice as likely as men to be diagnosed with depression (Comer, 2015). The life stress theory suggests that women in our society are subjected to more stress than men (Comer, 2015). It has been found that victimization of any produces a sense of helplessness and increases the symptoms of depression
Learning stress management in recovery is important. Properly using them once you return to the outside world will literally make or break your sobriety. Why Learning Stress Management in Recovery is so Important Stress is rooted in fear of the unknown. Faced with these things you've grown conditioned to thinking, “I feel overwhelmed, I need to get high.” You may also condition yourself to think, “Things are going too good, this isn't right, I need to get high.”
Psychological stress is a result of many factors and should be dealt with very carefully. Stress can be defined as “An excess of demand made upon the adaptive capabilities of the mind and body”.(Joseph 1). Another way of putting it, is that there are some things that put certain demands on us. The effects of stress should not be limited to unpleasant emotional states. Many studies have concluded that the effects on our physical health from stress can be extremely detrimental. These adverse physical effects include heart disease and formations of cancer. There are also some societal issues that psychological stress can hamper.
