Reflection Paper This course has enlightened me in several ways of how to keep my personal life and professional life separate. Our last assignment gave me a chance to realize how much information can be accessed by random strangers. Especially if they were willing to pay the fee to access the full profile on some of the sites that had my home address, phone number, family members and etc. I have learned a lot of the articles and the broadcast but what stood out the most to me was maintaining my social media accounts, setting boundaries between myself and my clients, and to manage any work I do for school, work or any other reason that could be published. Social media is a great way to communicate with others and to share information …show more content…
Fourth is to keep it professional and not talk about the agency or anything that is relating to work on social media. Fifth is to be careful of what I share from public pages or posts on social media as well. In the past, I have learned to set boundaries with my former inmates and offenders but I have never had to do the same in school or any other environment. I have never had a long conversation with any of the inmates or offenders that didn’t pertain to work or any requirements they had to meet. When I do have conversations with my friends and they do tell me about a problem or anything they are going through, I tend to relate with a personal experience. So with my clients I wouldn’t be able to do the same and I have to learn to keep it about them since we will have conversations about their personal lives. My actions steps to fix this problem are first to stop relating with personal experiences with my personal conversations so I can break my habit. It does take time to break habits so I would need to practice it outside of work to ensure I am ready whenever I start meeting with clients. Second is to stop and think about what I will say next or how I can reply without using any personal information. One of the points the articles made was that anyone can get access the previous work. So if I write an assignment for school or anything for work and it happens to get
Most people in today 's society are familiar with the term "Black Lives Matter". From magazine articles, to social media websites, classrooms, boardrooms, grocery stores and the like, Black Lives Matter is an issue that in recent years has refused to be shoved into closets waiting in hiding. It is an issue that has risen in prominence accompanied by angry marginalized people who continue to seek justice and solace. It is not the same movement that happened during the 1950s and 1960s with nonviolent protests and sit-ins at restaurant counters. It is instead a movement created upon a social media platform that has taken the stage to become a household name. It is on the forefront of race related issues amongst other things. While some regard it as terrorist group of black conspirators who are out to murder all white people in cold blood, others simply believe that it racist towards white people because all lives matter, not just black ones. Like a contest, many will voice their opinion, but few will actually decide to do research. People are quick to point out negative aspects regarding the group without actually trying to understand the change they are working towards as well as the reasoning behind the organization in the first place. A couple of quick clicks and you can find everything you need to know about Black Lives Matter. Black Lives Matter is defined as a network "advocating for dignity, justice and respect". They intend to "fight anti-black racism, spark dialogue
My main role in my job is to build healthy relationships with my clients and provide therapeutic treatment/programming that works to help my client’s progress through their time being placed within out residential facility. I have to be aware of an array of signs my client project that are warnings of discomfort that remind them of their past. The most important part of my positions is to build strong, trustworthy, and genuine relationships which helps makes my client aware that I am not there to hurt them. I want my clients to feel like they have a safe space when they come to speak to me. I want them to realize that I literally only show up to work every day because I hope to see them overcome their

The different forms of social media that will be analyzed in this paper are Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Snapchat, and Youtube. Jergenson, a social media enthusiast, shares his ideas about how people live in constant “digital dualism” (129) a term coined by the author himself, which is “the habit of viewing the online and offline as largely distinct,” (129).However, Jergenson argues that being either “online” or “offline” doesn’t really exist anymore, that people are perpetually connected even if it’s indirectly. The once separate “on” and “off” modes people used to have diminished as social media and technology have embedded themselves into our lives, into our “source code,” (126).
In today’s day and age, social media is popular more than ever. Now, just by clicking the “tweet” button, you can expose yourself and what you put out there for anyone throughout the whole world to see. Twitter, Instagram, etc have taken over the world, with millions and millions of users that range from super young to super old. Personally, I have three different platforms of social media. These include twitter, instagram and snapchat. I am interested to evaluate how I use it versus how I consider myself to be in real life and on a day to day basis. I believe the way that I represent myself on social media has some similarities and differences between my actual self on a day to day basis.
Since this project began, I have focused on maintaining strong personal and strategic relationships. I am preparing for the large American Society of Health-System Pharmacists - (ASHP) mid-year meeting. This is the largest annual meeting for pharmacy students to network and learn about residency positions across the country. To prepare for this meeting I have updated my social media sites, I have revamped my curriculum vitae and resume, as well as reach out to mentors and preceptors for letters of recommendations. In addition to maintaining my current network, I am also anticipating making several new connections next month at the mid-year meeting.
Ellen DeGeneres couldn’t have said it better, “Beauty is about being comfortable in your own skin. It 's about knowing and accepting who you are.” Imagine yourself in a world where everyone was confident with his or her looks. How different would your life be? No need for makeup or stressing to maintain a certain image. Just think of all the time you’d save just being confident with who you are! Statistics show that over 50% of teenage girls are self conscious about their looks. Social Media is negatively affecting confidence in woman and distorting what true beauty really is. Apps like Instagram and Twitter constantly lie to women about what true beauty is.
Recently, people are now discussing how social media changes our life, whether it is good or bad. Some of them think that social media is a kind of fad because of its rapid development. Others think that it is really useful and makes our life easier than before.
Social media has become prominent parts of life for many young people today. Most people engage with social media without stopping to think what the effects are on our lives, whether positive or negative. Are we as a society becoming more concerned with Facebook "friends" than we are with the people we interact with face-to-face in our daily lives? What will the longterm effects of today 's social media use be? There are many positive aspects, but there are equally as many dangers that come with the use of sites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google +, Tumblr, Instagram, gaming sites, and blogs. Social media has both negative and positive effects on society, it is up to the user to decide what impact they want to make. In order to make the right choices, we must dig in and research this topic thoroughly.
For my civic engagement project I decided to connect it to a separate project I am currently doing for my media class. For this project I paired up with the non profit organization, Media Done Responsibly. The organization works with college level students to become mentors for younger children. The goal of the organization is to spread awareness and educate the younger generation about destructive messages the media influences and how to overcome them. These negative messages include the exploitation of women, violence, drugs and mental health.
Before the birth of Internet, most of individuals communicated through the utilisation of telephone, in person or letters. Though, accordingly to the fast development of social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook, that has took place over the last 3-4 years, is indicative of its entry into our personal lives. Social media has led to the most significant changes in the way we communicate with each other and the linguistics we currently utilise. Phone texting over social media is also a rapid expansion in which it influences young individuals to use short phrases to conserve less time.
Take a minute and think to yourself on what you think policing will consist of in five or so years. With everything going on right now the way it is, it will be very hard to predict the policing in the future. This is starting to become a major story simply because we have shootings every single day killing more and more people. Those shootings typically involve law enforcement officers and members of the society. With news sites and social media constantly blowing the police stories out of proportion might lead to things getting even worse before they get better. Although things will take a while to finally get better, if everything is taken with caution and people start to settle down, things will in fact get better.
Lively smiles and expressions become zombified faces illuminated in the opaque night by the intoxicating glow of our handheld devices, each lifeless face free falling further into the downloadable programs designed to encapsulate our last drops of individuality for a grand display. Social media in its purest form is a tool meant to unite friends and family from all around the globe, everyone uses it, even the people who demonize it can’t completely pull themselves off of the constant stream of information emanating from their phone screens. After recording my media activity for five days I had the opportunity to observe many of the habits that I have developed over the years of being exposed to the constant radiation of social media. One of my favorite forms of art and expression is music so many of the hours I have recorded in my journal consist of music apps such as Spotify and SoundCloud, in each app you have the ability to share and like music. In the form of social media, my main two platforms are Instagram and Snapchat which I try to use primarily to stay in contact through sending memes and topical videos. I also recorded a small amount of time on Fantasy Football and reading books.
The project aim at teenagers, therefore sample group is between 13 to 19. I will set the sample sizes in 50 participants since it is easy to identity and more precision. If a sample sizes increase, it is very hard to estimate and become not accurate. Also, I’m worry about the extremes data can’t make a balance out, so the project prefers small sample sizes. It can take less effort to gain and maintain people, it is easy to produce significant results and comfortable to find a group of people. I will obtain samples from friends or friends’ sister and brother.
