PAY IT FORWARD
What do you do when someone does you a favor? Instead of paying him back, Trevor McKinney tells you to pay it forward.
Pay It Forward is about a 7th grader Trevor McKinney, the son of an alcoholic and single mother Arlene. Mr. Simonet is Trevor's unconventional Social Studies teacher who gives his class an unexpected assignment at their first meeting. "Think of an idea to change the world and put it into action." Simonet wants his pupils not only to know current events but also to think of making a difference in society. Trevor comes up with an idea. He will do an act of kindness to three people and instead of being paid back with gratitude, he will ask each recipient to pay it forward to three more people. They in turn

Many people can think about doing something like this, but Trevor actually does it. It shows how truly giving he was. Under the toughest of circumstances, Trevor focused on helping others, and that is why for me he really played an important role in the movie. As the movie continues on I didn’t really expect that Trevor would not be able to see much of his accomplishment with his project because at the end of the movie, Trevor dies by being stabbed by another student, who is bullying Adam (The kid that Trevor once helped). This movie is the perfect example of how a movie should be, it makes you laugh, cry a lot, and it is something that stays in your heart and keeps you thinking for weeks afterwards. This movie seems realistic when it comes to the problems faced by people in everyday life. These real life problems that affect everyday people are alcoholism, divorce, drug addictions, child addictions, child abuse, and so much more.
If you were to go into any classroom and talk to ten to twenty students, you would probably find students that are facing these problems at home. This is an extremely horrible thing that children’s these days have to deal with and I think that people sometimes just look the other way and try to ignore it. Movies like this will hopefully open people’s eyes and they will learn that they can do something to help. This movie
In chapter 5, The Elements of Moral Philosophy (68) what makes an act altruistic is based on the desire of wanting to help to someone. This statement leads me to believe that jerry’s actions were genuinely altruistic. Fixing the truck was jerry’s way of paying it forward. Paying it forward is an act of doing a good deed by helping each other without expecting anything in return. When jerry was fixing the truck, his act was altruistic because he wasn’t expecting anything in return, when Trevor’s mom asked him if he was doing it to pay back Trevor he says “I can’t pay back Trevor, I’m paying it forward”. Nothing about jerry’s actions were selfish, he didn’t do it to live in garage longer since he got a job and a place to stay. If Trevor’s mom
This picture with a sing in a school close to two kids that are walking to school is message about how some states are taking measures about this problem. I would the audience what hey feel when the see this signal after seeing last one with images of kids sick. Why we should feel peace of mind when we see this signal? Is our responsibility to have our kids living in a healthy environment, and is not difficult take part of solving this problem.
I really appreciated watching the documentary about Little Rock Central High School in class this week. “Little Rock Central High School is an accredited comprehensive public high school in Little Rock, Arkansas.” I had never hear about the school before or knew the history behind what happened many years ago. I cannot imagine what it must have felt like for African American kids to go school for the very first time with a bunch of white Americans who did not accept them at the time. Nine simple ordinary African American kids worked so hard to allow a chance for them to receive an education in a school that was not segregated. To think about how much bullying they went through and how much verbal and physical abuse they must have endured
On the other hand, I say it’s good to encourage our children to reality in life. We never know what could happen or what situation our children can go thru in school or with their own friends.
Pay it Forward is a movie that deals with many controversial topics such as addiction and poverty in a way that explains how we are able to help solve them. The movie starts out with Eugene Simonet assigning his junior high history class an extra credit opportunity. For the extra credit assignment, they must come up with a way to change the world and to put it into action. Most of the children don’t take the assignment seriously, believing that it is impossible. However, Trevor McKinney takes it upon himself to change the world with a plan he calls “Pay It Forward”. His plan goes on to help many people in the United States, including Jerry, a homeless man whom he helps get off drugs, his mother, Arlene, who is an alcoholic, and Mr. Simonet who has issues with his past. Long after the assignment, Trevor believes that his plan for “Pay It Forward” has failed because he could not get enough people to participate. However, a news reporter from Los Angeles tracks the movement to Trevor, who is in Las Vegas.
If the world says that kids are the future of the world then why not help them fight through whatever is going on with their life before it's too late. Researches have found that the kid's brain is having a hard time developing and in some cases that's the reason why kids couldn't make proper
Seeing children from ages six to thirteen, go through the immense amount of pain they did, just from being rejected from a charter school, is in attempts to sadden the audience and inform the country that there are kids that yearn for a quality education but cannot receive it.
In conclusion, this video had an enormous amount of information and I feel that this summary does not do it justice. However as teachers we must learn and continue to learn all the correct ways in which to aid our students to reach their greatest potential. It is not about us any more, it is about the children and teaching them how to properly behave and treat others will eventually create a better and better
They talk about stereotypes constantly, which in turn continuously shoves stereotype ideas, real or imaged, into their heads. Sadly, the African American boy who didn’t believe in the stereotypes as much lost his life to a stereotyped act. The other, unaware of his friends demise, has experiences that change him. I really liked it when the African American man tells the boy that he is ashamed of him. I had a few times when I was shaking my head, telling him to stop and that his beliefs were not correct. This led me to think about how this boy got all these ideas about stereotypes and the behaviors reflected from them. Stereotypes stem from somewhere, I think it’s possible these are either something he heard, was told or possibly experienced some. Either way, I think it shows how it’s important to know where stereotypes come from and why we believe what we
The purpose of the movie is a documentary of the students attending schools that are not giving them the education they’re needing such as being behind. Other students aren’t on average level they should be such as english, science, math and reading. The students have to face going to a school where they are having trouble and the teacher won’t help them with whatever it is they need help with. School boards can’t fire the
Those statements and moments made an impact because I hear and see this daily with the students I work with. It sadness me that this video is the norm for so many of my students and the community. This made an impact on me because our students are being short changed and the
In the movie ,The human experience, is 3 differents experiences from homeless to abused children and many african people being sick. The experience the young man went through can really change how someone feels and change their mind set. This helps society a little by seeing other peoples point of view and how their is people who have it worst and we should value life and how we need to find who we are. We find healing and forgiveness by loving our self by valuing life how it is and making the best of it. We need to find our self to forgive and to heal to know that life is a treasure. We do mistakes and learn but sometimes we should have our feet in the ground and appreciate everything we have and the people that surround us because everyone is valuable.
First, I like to donating money to causes I believe in. Even though monetary donations are difficult on a person with a low income or strict budget. There are always causes in my town of Phelan to get involved in. As in any other town, there are a number of disadvantaged homeless people needing help on a daily basis. Mark is one of our local homeless population and whenever we
Overall I thought this was a really good movie. I thought it taught you a lot about diversity, women’s rights, poverty and peace. The movie was a very touching and inspiring movie; there is also a lot of emotion due to what they had to deal with on an everyday basis. To me the movie and their stories really teach you that you should be aware of your surroundings and to be helpful in your
Maybe someday I'll have kids of my own. I hope so. If I do, they'll probably ask what part I played in the movement that changed the world. And because I'm not the person I once was, I'll tell them the truth. My part was nothing. I did nothing. I was just the guy in the corner doing my usual thing..
