Before transferring to the University of Houston in fall 2014, I attended Weatherford Community College and received my Associate’s in Arts and Science. At Weatherford Community College I was awarded a scholarship called Project Opportunity that paid for my two full years of schooling at Weatherford. At Weatherford, I was also recognized for academic excellence in Calculus II by the Mathematics Department and Chair at Weatherford College. I was also nominated as well as selected for the 2014 All-State Academic Team in recognition of my scholarly achievements at Weatherford. At the University of Houston, I was awarded the Transfer Excellence scholarship and I was also nominated for and awarded a Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship. My largest involvement has been with the Cougars and Houston Area Math Program (CHAMP), which is a high school outreach program that brings students to the UH campus twice per week for math lessons and tutoring. I have been a facilitator for the Monday lessons, and each week I volunteer 2 hours of my time to attend the lessons, work with students on the math activities, and serve as a mentor. In addition to CHAMP, I have also been involved with the Pi Mu Epsilon – Math Club in the UH Math department, and I have attended several of the club’s events.

Along with being a diligent student who has been enrolled in 11 Advanced Placement classes, I have also dedicated my time to other causes. I have many contributions when it comes to school, like most UC qualified students, but what makes me different is being active in community groups along with my school clubs. Rather than just participating in events offered at school, I search beyond for opportunities. What I have done differently is joining a program through Temecula Swim School.
Among the organizations and clubs at Joliet Junior College, the Natural Sciences Club and JJC's Honors Program are the ones that I am involved in. For the Natural Sciences Club, I participate by attending meetings and going on scientific field trips with the club. My participation with JJC's Honors Program is mostly through attending the program's forums. Outside of school, I help out at my local Assemblies of God church in Joliet. Currently, I am volunteering as an assistant choreographer to a dance crew from Joliet First Assembly's youth group.

Since my freshman year of high school, I have been involved in extracurricular activities ranging from volunteering at the animal shelter to being a member of the National English Honor Society. I enjoy lending my time to helping others as well as bettering my community.
Vital signs are a fundamental component of nursing care and indicate the body’s ability to maintain blood flow, regulate temperature and regulate oxygenate the body tissue. Taking vital signs are essential in revealing any sudden changes in the body, which could potentially indicate clinical deterioration of the patient.
As a student, I have always strived to do my best work. This determination also carries over into the rest of my life, including athletics, community service, and other extracurricular activities. I am currently a junior at POLYTECH High School and am a student in the Criminal Justice technical area. I am a member of the National Honor Society and our school-wide SkillsUSA chapter. Outside of school, I am a very active member of my church youth group and work often with the Knights of Columbus in community service efforts. I participate in shot put and discus with the school track team, and I also play volleyball. This essay is a reflective essay on my learning development from a young age through to my current position as a University Student. I will be relating my learning development back to two theories of human development, Vygotstsky’s socio-cultural theory and Marcia’s version of Erikson’s theory of identity development. However, in high school I found that many students were native born and mainly some English, so I was forced to step out my comfort zone and speak English more. I never liked the subject of ELA due to my inclination to Bengali. However, during my freshman year Math has always been my favorite subject so last year I Participated in a 14 hour math competition (Moody's mega math challenge) with a group to test my math ability. It was really fun and I learned a lot even though we did not go to the next round. I also tutored kids at Hamtramck public library in 2015 summer for 3 months. I taught them math and science. I am also a part of my highschool robotics and cyberpatriot team…… Last summer i Worked at Wayne State Urban Safety program. Over there I participated in a diverse range of projects designed to promote neighborhood guardianship and public safety. Task assignments have included support to the Home Safety Assessment team and the Green and Healthy Homes Initiative; participating in the board up of vacant, abandoned homes and cleanup of blighted properties; and distributing leaflets with public safety information to Detroit neighborhood

I get to share my passions with children and inspire them to pursue careers in STEM. I currently tutor math students at a Title I school to prepare for the Milestone exam. In addition, I volunteer and serve meals with my family at a local men’s recovery center, the Extension.
