The guild reported that we only had a few blocks left of Langley center before we had reclaimed the entire town. There may be a few stray houses on the outskirts, but overall it was all ours. This was exciting news, since if we controlled all of the town it was more likely it would remain ours. We could live almost normally, especially with the stable food supply that we had. The next morning, however, explosions riddled against part of the wall on the west side, and the Zed overran about six blocks before they were shut down. I can only think it was the same person who tried to sabotage the helicopter. The guild seems fairly confident that they’ll be able to salvage the damage, but our town rebuilding is going to take a little longer than originally anticipated. The helicopter was finished by the end of that week - It looks like luck has not completely left us. This allowed us to travel to the further places a little faster, not to mention having a birds eye view allowed us to scope the lay of the land and how many blocks …show more content…
They were even humming a random tune; I could almost place it and was going to ask, but the look of satisfaction on their faces was so complete I just left it alone. Over the next few days, they inoculated everyone, which so far has no side effects. One of the scientists pulled me aside and mentioned that if we could find more fuel for the helicopter, it could be distributed aerially so that new Zed wouldn’t be formed. Even more so, if we managed to capture a Zed, they might be able to reverse its effects. Now all we need to do is convince the Zedders not to kill the things they’ve been killing for months… One of the scavengers was seriously wounded while out gathering, and his dog died. I’m sure he would have been heartbroken if he were conscious, but he was wheeled into the hospital muttering about
In the middle 1960s, every male in America had to register for Selective Service Draft at age 18. He would then be eligible for the draft and could be inducted into the Army for a period of two years. If you were a college student, you could receive a deferment and would be able to finish college without the fear of being drafted. However, once finished with college, a students name would be put to the very top of the draft list and could be deployed at anytime. The anti-war movement was about young men being drafted and then sent into war that most Americans did not believe threatened the security of the US. The Vietnam War was America’s rebellious war, a war without popular support

The Powerful country’s winning streak was broken. During 1954–1973 the United States went to war in Asia with the country Vietnam. This was a really tough battle for both Vietnam and the United States. After the fearsome battle Vietnam came out victorious. This was the first loss for the United States and it left a big impact that still stands today.
Vietnam was so significant to the United States partly as it would be the first war they would lose. It also had a tremendous financial impact on the country and the casualties were also more in the public eye than ever before due to the media. They learnt that: "a long war for limited objectives, with its steady stream of body bags, will not be supported by the American people" (Martino, 1996, p37). Some suggest that the US should have avoided any involvement in the war.
What is war good for? Absolutely nothing. The vietnam war wasn’t a necessary war. All of those innocent lives were lost because of America’s attitude toward communism. People need to look past their views into how it affects other people. The war was a economy ruining, life taking, horrible mistake.
He could hear shouting on the radio saying that they have cleared the zones and are heading back to base camp. But backup was too late to save him they wiped base camp clean of zeds. As he lay dying on the table, unable to move, he watched as his blood pooled out from the gaping wounds in his back and arm, onto the map and as he began to lose consciousness and stopped hearing as two soldiers busted into the tents to see the horror. The officer spat out his last words telling the soldiers to “watch their backs” as he faded away. A few days later the military had stopped the virus and eliminated it causing the earth to be safe
As for Zeitoun, he stayed home to look after the house. The water came; the strong winds took out buildings around the city while Zeitoun somehow stayed safe in his house. U.S. authorities were responding to the scene in. They were in helicopters flying over people and dropping off supplies such as food and water for stranded people. Zeitoun was also supplied some water by the helicopters above. Zeitoun and his neighbors, which were some of his closer friends and some clients, would canoe around the city, helping people, and trying to get help themselves. They came across multiple boats rapidly passing their small canoe and the soldiers did not even glance at the men . As Zeitoun kept moving on, he saw an outpost of military personnel. Zeitoun approached them and was told to leave and go back. They had a gun pointed at him as they urged him to go to another outpost. That is not what Zeitoun or anyone would expect authorities to do in a situation like this. Most people would think that they would be helpful instead of being rude and turning Zeitoun away with
The 1960s was a period of immense change in America. The decade brought about various social changes such as the Civil Rights Movement and the Women’s Liberation Movement. These movements would forever change the landscape of America. However, the discussion of the Vietnam War was never far from people’s minds. This war would serve as an introduction to what war was to the home front. It was in the homes of America where so many had been previously sheltered from the realities of war. During previous conflicts, there had been a military censorship on all media that pertained to war. This would not be the case in Vietnam, it would be completely uncensored. The ability for reporters to provide a commentary on the war without censorship would change the all-American, Captain America view that Americans had in previous wars. The lack of censorship would be a major factor in the overall soldier experience in the Vietnam war.
The original plan was to take to helicopter and take group 1 onto the roof and Team 2 on the ground. The didn't go so well when one of the Modified black hawk helicopter had started to lose altitude because of the 10 ft wall. The helicopter crashed inside the compound. Then instead the other helicopter landed outside of the wall to drop of the seal. The team at first had no idea what happened and when the were gonna blow a hole into the wall to get inside tone of their teammates had opened the front gate for them. When inside of the compound they were engaged by men who came from the compound and were quickly neutralized. A team had gone inside while the other team had stayed outside for security. When securing the house they encountered children which were believed to have suicide vest were shot in the leg and were moved out of the way. Once they reached the 2nd floor of the 3 story house they encountered bin laden's son who had a weapon and was shot and killed. When they proceed to the final floor 2 women came out of the room and were tackled by the point man because he believed they carried suicide vest and wanted to absorb the blast in order to save his teammates they weren't carrying suicide
Within one generation, The United States have experienced The Second World War, The Korean War and fifteen years of The Cold War crisis. The Vietnam War was the last drop into the cup of American patience. The costs of The Vietnam War were intolerable, because they contravened traditional American values and hopes.
According to “Zlata’s Diary,” written by Zlata Filipovic herself it states, “The new sections of town-Dobrinja, Mojmilo, Vojnickopolji- are being badly shelled. Everything is being destroyed.” Her whole area, where she grew up was being blown up in front of her eyes. Next it says “ The gunfire was getting worse, and we couldn’t get over the wall to the Bobars’, so we ran down to our own cellar.” Then it says “ The cellar is ugly, dark, smelly.” They couldn’t even stay in there own
This paper will be explaining the similarities, and differences, between the Vietnam War and the War in Afghanistan. There are many topics that bring these two wars together. However, I am only going to be talking about public support, policy objectives, military strategy, weapons, fighting spirit, links to home, and death totals. These topics have a lot of information about them, but there is too much to write about every little detail, so I will cover the broad overview of them. Each paragraph will be about one of the topics. There will also be a discussion about insurgencies and counter insurgency operations. These are two big topics in Vietnam and Afghanistan since almost all of the enemy in both wars were, and are, comprised of insurgents and different types of militia groups.
In the 1950's, the United States had begun to send troops to Vietnam and during the following 25-year period, the ensuing war would create some of the strongest tensions in US history. Almost 3 million US men and women were sent thousands of miles to fight for what was a questionable cause. In total, it is estimated that over 2 million people on both sides were killed.
The Vietnam War was one of the worst wars in the United States history. The reason for the United States involvement was due to the start of communism in North Vietnam. The citizens in South Vietnam feared the control of North Vietnam and were worried that the north would take control of the south. The communist North Vietnam had support from the Soviet Union and China, making the South Vietnamese vulnerable to the north. In their time of struggle the South Vietnamese were able to receive aid from the United States. The North Vietnamese had set up a series of radar stations along bays and islands on the Gulf of Tonkin. On August 1, 1964 the U.S.S. Maddox was posted on a surveillance mission to study the North Vietnamese defenses
