The writing process I have used over the course of the last twenty years has not changed or evolved very much at all. I have never been exposed to an in-depth course on how to write well. I have never enjoyed writing, and due to this lack of passion in writing, I have never sought to improve this critical skill. I always thought that my writing skills were pretty good until I started this class. It has been thirteen years since I graduated high school and I quickly realized that I had a lot of “refreshing” to do as far as writing papers. I immensely struggled when writing. Taking my scrambled thoughts and uncoordinated analysis and converting it into clean and understandable words on a page was arduous. After looking through the reading, I believe my writing is like Janet’s because I prefer being very explicit and “straight to the point” in my papers. Moreover, I tend to use facts from sources that I believe benefit my main idea and avoid responding to the author’s claims as well. I am afraid if I place my own opinions or explanations within a paper, that it would take away the focus of the topic.
