3 easy steps towards solving the refugee crisis in the U.S The refugee crisis is not a new problem in our nation’s history , however it is a persistent one. Countless politicians have tried their hand at solving the problem with no avail, the issue still leaves our country heavily divided between two points; let them come or keep them out. However there may be a middle ground that we can pursue, something along the lines fortifying our defenses to try and keep potentially dangerous travelers away, and allow the freedom seekers a new home to enjoy. Our vetting process is the only thing that stands between American citizens and possibly imminent danger that is democracy defiling terrorists. However according to James Comey, the current director of the F.B.I our vetting process is inefficient. ( http://www.politifact.com) While it does manage to stop a large number of potential terrorists, however Comey stated he “couldn’t guarantee there would never be a problem and no terrorist could ever slip through the cracks.” This has caused an uproar in citizens who already were concerned about trusting refugees, and thus has led to a general anxiety around pre-existing …show more content…

According to the UN only 7 countries in the EU make up about 86% of refugee intake, the rest of the countries in the EU make up only a tiny 14% (https://data.unhcr.org). If we could negotiate with them to lessen the burden of the refugees, we are taking in perhaps we could provide more places for refugee families to go. This would put less pressure on the U.S to take in more refugees than we could handle and also show the rest of the world that we are actively looking for solutions for the problem instead of allowing the preconceived notion that we are taking a back seat to the
