Regina Jose Galindo was born in 1974 in Guatemala. She currently lives and works in Guatemala. Regina practices her art works with her own body. Her works are based on violence or any cruelty caused by certain political events and personal disgrace. Those works are open to the public and to whoever relates to what is being depicted in the art work. (Regina Jose Galindo Portfolio, 2014). Galindo won the Golden Lion award in 2005 as the best artist under 35 at the 51st. Venice Biennale. Two years later, she sold this award to a Spanish artist, Santiago Sierra, who in return sold back to a collector. Ironically, in 2011 she decided to order an exact copy of the award to her friends, Angel and Fernando Poyón who were sculptors in Guatemala. Her friends gave her the exact copy, but this time the Golden Lion was casted in bronze coated in Guatemalan gold. Regina’s work is also present in private and public collections, such as the Pompidou, Guggenheim, Rivoli Museum in Torino, or the Miami Art Museum and Cisneros Fontanals Collection in Miami …show more content…
Her body was motionless with no clothes on, and she was in a extremely cold room. Some pieces of clothes were on the ground at her feet. Different people entered the room, and it was up to them to put the clothes on her, or leave her in the cold. I found this a very interesting practice, because with this experiment you can see the level of humanity in people. She let people decide whether to do something for her when she was freezing to death, or to continue and leave her there. Another interesting work was the one called “Bitch” (Perra). In this work, she wrote the word BITCH with a knife on her right thigh. This work is to reflect the torture and murder affecting hundreds of Guatemalan women every year. Many of them were found disfigured with words like “bitch” carved into their bodies (Micchelli,

Melinda Sordino completely loathes the cliques at Merryweather High school, there are so many it is overwhelming. There's a group for every type of person , in theory it should work, but it does not, simply because people are seclude to one certain group and have to keep up to a certain standard. I think another reason why Melinda hates the cliques is, because she is all alone and does not fit anywhere, so seeing the cliques is just another painful reminder. Also Melinda losses the only friend she had to the Martha's , which is serious blow to her self esteem. This quote best describes how Melinda feels” We fall into clans: Jocks, Country Clubbers, Idiot Savants, Cheerleaders, Human Waste, Eurotrash, Future Fascists of America, Big Hair Chix,

About 100 miles out of Albuquerque, the Navajo are lacking something that we take for granted everyday - easy access to water. Many Navajo families have no running water in their homes and they have to drive many miles to get water from a well. In addition, many of the wells that once had water that was safe to drink have been contaminated as a result of mining causing the Navajo to be further away from their source of water.

Melinda Sordino is influenced by peer pressure because her friends went to a party where she ended up drinking and getting involved with a boy (Addy) who took advantage of her. I do not think I was ever involved with anything like this because my grandmother is a strict woman, so I was never aloud out of the house unless it was with family. I thought it was very dumb of Melinda to do that because going to a party and drinking at that age is wrong, these kids need to find some type of discipline. Melinda had a better way of handling the situation by telling an adult that she trusted,I feel like if she never went to that party none of this would have happened. Her family and friends around can be a better influence to her, talk to her, be there
Sophie Gregoire - Trudeau is the wife of Canadian Prime Minister. Before she got married to Justin Trudeau, she was a Canadian television hosts. People have to decide if Sophie needs more help in her life. She has three children and a public life. Women’s life as a mother is not as simple as people think. They have a lot of responsibilities and commitment. Although a lot of people think that she is not having trouble and she does not need any help, she has a lot of responsibilities which are not related to family life. Also it is not easy to be a public person.
“I could have been in college, I would have been working,” Briana said. “Nova slows me down. Sometimes I do wish I would have had an abortion, but I love Nova, I do not regret her. It’s just hard sometimes” (Maier). Briana DeJesus, a Puerto Rican teenager, was unfortunate to become pregnant at a young age, which had put a set back to all her future plans. DeJesus is a child of a single mother and has grown up in poverty. She believed that she had the love and support from her child’s biological father resulting in her keeping her child rather than terminating. As revealed, she often regrets her decision and wonders how her life would have been if she terminated her pregnancy, but she would not turn back the clock and had an abortion, as she loves her child.

I chose St. Angela Merici. St. Angela Merici is the patron saint of the disabled and physically challenged. I chose St. Angela Merici because she saw that girls were unable to get a proper academic education or an education in the Christian faith, and she then decided to help young girls get the education they needed. Education is very important to me just like it was important to St. Angela Merici. I was inspired by the way St. Angela Merici saw the problem of improper education and fixed it. She was also dedicated to prayer which I believe is an important quality.
