Healthcare abounds with occupations dedicated to serving a variety of populations. Each profession has distinct qualities that warrant specific talents. My mother exemplified the characteristics of a successful Registered Nurse as I was growing up. Although I greatly admire her profession I knew early on that I would not follow the same path. My initial career goal was marriage and family therapy. After completing my Associate's degree and marrying the love of my life, I applied to the prerequisite Bachelor's program at East Carolina. However I declined my acceptance to accommodate the birth of our first child. As our family changed in location and size, my to judiciously pondered my options. Working with organizations such as Salvation Army and CARE Clinic has provided me the honor of making a difference in my community. Meeting the needs of individuals is my way of investing in their future. Maria's House and Hope Harbor provided personal interactions with individuals recovering from substance abuse. Accordingly, their insights developed a greater understanding of how addictions begin and why they are difficult to overcome. Observing men and women working daily to maintain sobriety expanded my perception of those in recovery. Special needs individuals have also deeply impacted my life. While employed with Skill Creations, I monitored the daily activities of six young men with mental and physical needs exceeding the care family members could provide. Unfortunately, some endured incredibly difficult circumstances before admission. The group home provided daily medical care as well as therapeutic services designed to encourage independence. Subsequently, my daughter's diagnosis of autism forged awareness of the innovation special needs parents exhibit discerning services to pursue for their child's future
In Nigeria, I had a first degree in animal science and one year post graduate in Public Administration. I got married at the age of 29 to my husband who was a medical doctor. I became fascinated about what goes on in the hospital and how nurses and doctors related to their patients in a compassionate and patient manner. Since then I started developing interest in nursing. Sometimes I end up helping my husband to prepare food for the patients when they don’t want or like the food served to them at the hospital. I also keep the patients company when I am free. I realized that what some of these patients need is them talking about themselves without them being judged. Just sitting and allowing them to talk is very therapeutic to them.
Being a nurse not only means compassion, dedication, and intelligence, but the profession also requires endurance, personal sacrifice, and the need for continuous education. I have learned that nurses are some of the most caring and selfless people that anyone will ever meet. Nurses are more than willing to complete challenging tasks and care for others in a way that the majority of people are unwilling to. I am driven to bring all of these qualities into my role as a future nurse practitioner, which is why I am committed to pursuing my Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP).
May I express my keen interest to apply for a job in your institution as a Registered Nurse Division 1. I have heard a lot of positive things about Alfred Health specifically Caulfield Hospital, which is one of the leading rehabilitative facilities here in Victoria. I spent my clinical placement there in the Sub-acute Aged Care Unit (Ch-12 ACG) in Alfred Health (Caulfield) for four weeks and the learning experience by far has been awesome and inspiring. I have a great passion in both geriatric and rehabilitative nursing and I am convinced that Caulfield Hospital would be the best place to sharpen my knowledge, attitude and skills as a nurse in the given fields.
For as long as I can remember, or since the first time I met a nurse, I knew that was what I wanted to do. I have always held a great deal of respect for those who care for others in their time of need, and sacrifice their own emotional health to be strong for someone else, when they could not be strong for themselves. For several years my fear of being unsuccessful held me back from pursuing this dream, until I decided to finally take the first step and become a certified nursing assistant, and enroll at Clinton Community College to begin my journey to becoming a registered nurse. In the summer of 2014 I had decided to take control of my life and pursue my dream of working in the field of healthcare.
My lifetime goal is to become a Registered Nurse since I was 18 years old, but, unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to go college, but to go to a technical school and get a medical assistant degree. Since then, I worked in many different doctors’ office in Florida as a Medical Assistant until 2 years ago when I met my husband and moved to Maryland. Luckily, with my husband's support, I have been having the opportunity to go back to school and continue my education.
The nursing field gives a person the opportunity to work with and care for elderly, sick, and injured patients. I want to join the registered nurse team because they take on multiple medical settings. Registered nurses are known as RNs. They are responsible for multiple things. Being a RN has a lot of responsibility. The topics I will be covering are: job description, specialties, trends, salary, benefits, and required trainings. These are essential things that a person needs to know before going into nursing school.
As an acute care nurse practitioner I hope to utilize my experience as an Intensive Care Unit nurse along with clinical knowledge and skills acquired through a graduate level program to provide the highest quality patient care. In my current role, I place high value on patient-family centered care and advocacy as well as commitment to lifelong learning. I have built my nursing career upon these values. I am excited to begin the journey of becoming an acute care nurse practitioner and to further my education and expand my scope of practice in the field of critical care, for which I have already developed a passion.
Given the goals of WRITE, please state why you should participate in the next class of students. Growing up in rural Wyoming instilled within me a desire to work toward improving access to medical care in rural areas, and I feel my participation in WRITE would equip me with the skills and tools necessary to pursue this goal. I enjoy immersing myself in novel situations in order to learn about cultures, practices, people, and worldviews which differ from my own. I strongly believe in a holistic view of medicine: empowering patients to become partners in
How often does a 4-year-old child grow up and become exactly what they said they would? I walked across the stage at pre-school graduation, and I said I wanted to be a nurse, and 20 years later I am proud to call myself a Registered Nurse. I explored other avenues in the medical field during high school and college, but always found myself called back to nursing. I attended the University of Dallas immersed myself in their pre-medical program, however I desired something more.
I hope to make the world a better place and honor life’s journey by helping populations in rural and remote areas maintain and prevent illness and get the healthcare they need when they need it. My goal is to be an independently mobile practicing nurse practitioner in the state of Nevada. As a nurse, I believe a significant role I play is to empower individuals to identify patterns or lifestyles in their life that are no longer working to maintain health. I believe in a holistic healthcare model and that are many health resources available to heal and maintain health.
I am applying to the New Graduate Nurse Residency Program offered in the intensive care setting. I am currently completing my first year as a bedside nurse on 4th Medical Cardiology and I am an excellent candidate for this specialty program.

A job gives you a living, but your work makes you a difference. I have always believed I was called to become a doctor, but my destiny had something greater for me. Many may hear that and want to disagree, even though it's true doctors are better compensated, but the field of nursing is a holistic approach of medicine that has the potential to heal a person's mind, body, and soul primarily based on their interaction with a Nurse. Throughout my life, whether it being my past, present, or future endeavors and experiences all roads have led towards the field of nursing. Many not being gigantic signs saying choose nursing in all red, but rather small intentional signs that I had to pay close attention too or else I could lose out on living out my calling.
