Rehabilitation services are offered to patients following their recovery from acute or chronic illness and for patients that requires additional assistance to return to their previous level of function. Restorative care allows patients to “regain maximal functional status and enhance quality of life through promotion of independence and self-care” (Potter, Perry, Hall & Stockhert, 2017, p. 20). There are several services and settings offered in restorative care to help an individual resume normal activities of daily living (ADL’s). San Marcos Senior Activity Center (SAC) “offers access to community resources, services, nutrition and leisure interests that help foster social connection, vibrant aging, personal autonomy and life-long learning” (“Welcome to the Senior Center”). The Senior Activity Center “provides resources, information and referrals such as AARP safe driving classes, food and housing resources, Veteran’s assistance, HICAP” (Atwan, 2016). Free services of SAC also include “legal consultations, auditory, dietary, dental, and blood pressure screenings” (Atwan, 2016). The San Marcos Senior Activity Center regularly offers events toward elderly that includes “dances, movie nights, parties and more” (“Senior Activity Center Events”). Interfaith senior programs provide services for low and moderately low-income seniors which include referrals, project C.A.R.E., senior connection lunches, and minor home repairs (“Interfaith Community Services”).
