Explain the types of learning experiences with examples

1. Introduction:

Any educational institution is an agency to provide knowledge and wisdom to children. And it is also geared towards the achievement of aims and objectives. The quality of education should be value based and it should give experiences which will shape and modify the behaviour of pupil. Every teacher has a greater responsibility in planning proper activities which will enable children to take active part in different situations which the teacher creates in the class and outside the class room.

Learning takes place through experience. A child is exposed to various situations in life where he interacts and modifies his behaviour. Home is one of the most important places

The learning activities must lead to meaningful experiences which result in learning. The following are the characteristics of learning experience: ➢ Every learning experience should be directly related to the instructional objectives. ➢ It should be meaningful and satisfying to the learner. Playing with clay would be meaningful and satisfying to children going to preprimary schools but it may not be so for adolescents. ➢ It should be related to life situations ➢ It should be appropriate to the maturity level of the learner. ➢ It should be varied and rich in content. A pupil who observes the habits of birds and their nests has a richer experience than the one who merely sees the habits of one bird. While selecting any learning experience, the teacher must see that it leads to the attainment of any given educational objective. ➢ Features of the concept experienced and spelt out by the student himself. ➢ Cater to the psychological needs of the learner ➢ Provide reinforcement ➢ Include stimulus variation ➢ Lead to the better understanding of the content ➢ Should not be long drawn out - maintain the interest of students ➢ Related to current changes in society ationschool ➢ In line with the aims and philosophy of the nation.
4. Types of learning Experiences:

There are two types of learning experiences.
