It is obvious that human beings ever since have had disagreements on certain things in their life, and sometimes those differences went deep until even became great wars. The wars have affected their way of life usually had terrible consequences on them. Religion is one those arguments on which people in different societies did not agree, and usually different societies practiced different religions. Basically, religion formed their ways of life, and it controlled the pre-modern world societies. Sometimes, it had good effects on them in terms of war, for instance, almost all of the world religions have encouraged some sort of peace so that their followers should be peaceful in certain times, which was mostly at their religious events. However, religion most of the times were used for justification of an action or event in favor of certain people, and it was also used to practice some extreme ideologies and actions.

People in the past tried to justify their own purposes, the natural phenomena, and battle endings as if religion and God are behind them. Some people used religion and name of God to justify their own purposes, and an example would be in Livy’s source. He mentions that Decius as a general prayed to win and sacrificed himself in the battle between Romans and Latins, and he did that in order to motivate his army in order to win the battle (Livy, week 6). As they were religious and loyal to it, when their general was killed, and another general led them, they got emotionally stronger; therefore, they won the war thinking that they showed their loyalty to the general and their god.
