He goes to her balcony and listens to her speak, and then he shows himself to Juliet.
In the beginning he is heartbroken when the love of his life turns out to not love him the way he does her. He is consoled by his good friends Benvolio and Mercutio who later think he is being dramatic over the whole thing. The other did not so( Romeo Act 4 scene 1).”
Romeo is portrayed as an emotional and reckless character. His friend Mercutio and Fr. Lawrence comment on Romeo’s fickle attitude when he immediately falls in love with Juliet completely forgetting about Rosaline, his first love. Romeo quotes,” Did my heart love until now? Foreswear it sight, for I never saw true beauty until this night”. His love for Rosaline was superficial. Juliet transforms Romeo’s immature and erotic infatuation to true and constant love. Romeo & Juliet’s relationship shows how much they love each other, but they have unwise decisions. In Romeo & Juliet, their relationship was strong, but it was not everlasting. Also, as they keep moving forward in the relationship, they make some bad decisions. They got married way too young; they need to live life. When Romeo goes to the party, he sees Juliet and falls in love with her, and the same thing happens with Juliet.
His rash behavior is shown through his tendency to fall in love too quickly and deeply. When Romeo first enters the play, he claims to be in love with a woman named Rosaline, but he completely forgets about her when he sees Juliet. Romeo immediately swears his love for Juliet the night they meet, and when Juliet proposes the idea of marriage, Romeo agrees to the marriage right away. When Romeo approaches Friar Laurence and insists on marrying Juliet right away, Friar Laurence replies with, "Wisely and slow. They stumble that run fast", which is the friar's first warning of love in moderation (2.3.94).
This love is shown by four people, first by Romeo and his father, Friar Lawrence. Romeo’s father is worried about him, his heart has recently been broken by a girl he had a crush on, Rosaline. In scene one of act one, page 25, Romeo quotes; “She is too fair, too wise, wisely too fair, To merit bliss by making me despair.” In this quote he is saying that Rosaline is beyond beautiful to him, and what makes her happy, gives him great sadness.
With their families not accepting their love, the results were inevitable. They knew their boundaries but still chose to cross every one of them for their love, they did not give up until they knew they were happy and if that meant they had to die, that was the decision they were willing to make for one another. It was suspenseful. Will he get the girl, or will she marry Paris? Will they kill Romeo, or will he be able to get away before anything?
