Brianna Pace Mr. Jetter English 12P 18 October 2010 Religion Vs Science In many aspects of life, science and religion are shown to disagree with each other; Science focuses on logic and reason while religion relies solely on faith and the belief of a higher power. Both have advantages as well as disadvantages. Some advantages and disadvantages of religion are that you obtain eternal life, spiritual support and guidance, and be a better person through morals and values. With these advantages come discrimination, confusion, and sin luring you away from God. The advantages of science are better technology, more advancements and inventions, but the disadvantages are it leads to sin, physical laziness, addiction, and misuse.…show more content…
With today’s science capabilities, anything is possible. Although science has many benefits, it also is the cause of many of the problems today. The misuse of technology and science seems to become more and more popular in this generation. Much of the technology used in the world today is used more for sinful and immoral wrong doings rather than for the actual purpose of the device. Science and technology not only leads to sin which lures you away from God, but it also causes bigger problems in the world today such as physical laziness. Over half of the people in the United States are overweight or obese. Obesity in proliferating in the Unites States is 3.8 million people are over 300 pounds and over 400 thousand people are heavier than 400 pounds. The average number of hours per day that a person watches television is seven hours per day. The fact is that new technology leads to misuse, physical laziness, and sin. Based upon the points given above, it is clear that science and religion both can bring benefits as well as problems to us. Religion has more advantages to society and human that science alone. Religion answers many of the revolving questions of the world and allows you to have a personal covenant and guidance from God, while science although it answers the questions of the world, it creates a lot of animosity, sin, and
