Good morning Mr Harrop and fellow peers. Today I will be analysing the moral issues and moral dilemmas in non-literary texts, so that we can understand and evaluate how test structures, language and visual features can be used to influence an audience response. An exemplar of many moral and ethical dilemmas is shown through popular sport inspiring movie, ‘Remember The Titans’ (Yakin, 2000) directed by Boaz Yakin. Yakins has a gift for dealing with controversial human issues, by facing the characters with racism, peer pressure and selfishness. Alongside the writer Gregory Allen Howard, they have utilized textual structures, language features and visual features to influence the audience's response.
There are several leadership styles represented in the film “Hoosiers.” This movie brings two different concepts called transactional leadership and transformational leadership. Transactional leadership styles are more concerned with maintaining the normal flow of operations, whereas a transformational leader goes beyond managing the daily tasks for leading their followers to success. Transactional leadership styles also include trying to establish direction, aligning people, they are dedicated to communication, creating teams, motivation and inspiration. A transformational leadership styles basically turn towards to creating the agenda and requests, they are dedicated to planning, policies and procedures. The leader’s job
In the movie Remember the Titans, coaches Yoast and Boone demonstrate leadership through the three leadership styles; authoritarian, democratic and laissez-faire.
Remember the Titans is an exciting film about the Civil Rights movement in the U.S. It personifies the power of respect, care and desire to win prevailing over racial prejudice. It showcases how individuals from diversified color, background and culture rose from the occasion and became lifelong friends. The players, Gerry Bertier and Julius Campbell, and the coaches, Herman Boone and Bill Yoast, are truly inspiring figures in the film.
In April of 1971, the United States Supreme Court issued a decision that finished all state-forced segregation in government funded schools. This was that year that T. C. Williams High School situated in Alexander Virginia was incorporated. This is the setting for the film Remember the Titans, gazing Denzel Washington who portraits Herman Boone the head coach of the Titans.
Good morning/afternoon fellow students and Mr Harrop. Today I will be analysing the moral issues and moral dilemmas in non-literary texts and understanding and evaluating how text structures, language and visual features can be used to influence audience response. A moral issue is one’s opinion on what is right or wrong whilst a moral dilemma is when one is called to take action that violates their values. The film that I will be analysing is ‘Remember the Titans’ a film directed by Boaz Yakin. One of the moral dilemmas characters in the film face is whether they decide to cooperate with the other race when they are forced to merge. One of the ethical dilemmas that characters face in the film are decisions that need to be made to stop the
A paradigm is defined as how you perceive or see something. Therefore, a paradigm shift is when your perception of something is changed or challenged. For many characters in the movie Remember the Titans, the struggle of integration and football challenges their thoughts on racial segregation. While many of the characters don't agree with the idea of integration and believe that they are superior to the rest, paradigm shifts happen for most every one of the characters. Throughout the movie we see that both adults, teens, and children have paradigms of others, themselves, and relationships.
A leader I admire is Tavon Austin.Austin was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He attended Dunbar High School in Baltimore, Maryland, where he played football, basketball, and ran track. In football, he played running back, leading Dunbar High to three consecutive Class 1A state titles. As a senior, he had 2,660 yards rushing on 218 carries with 34 touchdowns, while also returning 12 punts for 446 yards and two scores. He was a Two-time Maryland Consensus Offensive Player of the Year and Consensus first team All-state. Austin enrolled in West Virginia University, where he played for the West Virginia Mountaineers football team from 2009 to 2012. He was converted into a wide receiver as a freshman in 2009. During his freshman season, he had 15 receptions
Before I begin my critical book review on The Mentor Leader by Tony Dungy, I would like to give a brief background of the author Tony Dungy. Tony Dungy is best known for becoming the first African American coach in NFL history to win a Super Bowl. Tony Dungy got his start in coaching football when he became an assistant coach for his alma mater, the University of Minnesota. Tony Dungy then moved into the NFL where he was an assistant coach in the Pittsburgh Steelers organization, the Kansas City Chief organization, and the Minnesota Vikings organization. Tony Dungy eventually achieved his dream by becoming the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 2002, he became the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts where he led the organization to
Transformational and transactional leadership is evident at T.J. Maxx, however, there are some leadership styles reviewed by Anderson & Sun (2017) in the International Journal of Management Reviews that are applicable, such as intellectual
Later, Williams begins a dialogue about religion. The translated dialogue speaks firmly about the existence of the Christian god and the affirmation of those beliefs. The author is a clear devotee of Christianity. And although he
The story of Invictus is based upon the life of Nelson Mandela during the time he held his Presidency of South Africa. Specifically, the movie focuses on his ideas of managing the Springboks and how the opportunity of using the country’s Rugby team unfolds as a way to bring the country together. Since The World Cup is being held in South Africa during the first year of his term, he sees The World Cup as an attempt to bring the whites and blacks together by finding pride in their home team’s victory. Mandela is successful at transforming the beliefs of South Africa through his styles of democratic leadership, transformational leadership, and interpersonal orientation leadership.
This paper shows the different leadership styles and how it can affect the team results. both the leaders try to motivate the team, one tries to motivate them extrinsically and the other one intrinsically. The paper says there is no right or wrong style of leadership, but a true leader motivates others to develop those leadership qualities in them and do better. This paper gives a description of the coaches and the team players who showed leadership qualities even in the most difficult situations because they knew that their team needs them. It also describes the contribution on these players in their victory. They forgot their difference and played as a team. There were no

Captains of sports teams are given the stereotype that they are the most athletic player on the team, scoring the most goals and handling the ball best. In truth, captains have a lot of work they have to do that doesn't even involve playing the sport. Captains are the most looked at player of the game; other players, younger kids and coaches look to them to set examples. They have to set examples in every aspect of the game; athleticism might be part of their job but it is not limited to it. The captain of any sports team must set the leadership standard for commitment, confidence, intelligence, and attitude.
