The Effect of Remembering to Check my Math Homework and Tests on my Math Grade
Hypothesis:
If I remember to check my math work, then my math grades will increase.
Introduction:
My academic SMART goal was to remember to check my math homework and tests, so my math grade would increase. I had been getting questions wrong on my math quizzes and homework. They had been mistakes I could fix by remembering to check my work. I wanted to stop making these mistakes so I recorded how many times a week I remembered to check my work and how many times I didn't remember to check my work. I recorded the data on my iPad in an app called notes.
I kept my goals organized by using SMART goals as an outline. SMART is an acronym which stands for specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and timely.

Even though the only progression was in the first two weeks the goal has helped me get use to a successful habit that will help in the future.
Conclusion:
My academic SMART goal was to remember to check my math homework and tests, so my math grade would increase. I wanted to check my math tests and homework because I had been getting questions wrong on my math tests and homework. These were mistakes I could fix by remembering to check my work. I knew when I achieved my goal when I saw that my math grade had improved. My goal had been successful because my grades improved since week one of the goal tracking.
One person that helped me achieve my goal was my father. When my family and I were discussing about what I should use as my SMART goal my father helped me realize that I needed to improve in math. Throughout elementary school my dad had always been the one to teach me math. Over the course of those years he always told me that I had to remember to check my work after any test, but I always forget. My father thought it was a good idea to make it more official by making it my SMART
In her essay “The Smurfette Principle”, Katha Pollitt writes that commercial television and the views of preschoolers TV programs neatly divided between the genders. Pollitt describes boys are always more important, and take starring role in contemporary television shows, movies, cartoons then girls are in the supporting role. This theory split their consciousness, change both boys and girls.
If you do not set goals or achievements for yourself then, you will not be successful in life. One major goal that I set for myself is to be elected at the ROTC program at Colts Neck High School. Unfortunately, it will not be an easy goals to achieve. It is going to a long bumpy ride until I reach my destination. However, if I study hard, complete all of my school assignments, and get antoshining grades then, I can find a shortcut to make this ride shorter and maybe even smoother after all. Also, participation is one of the main keys to achieving this goal. I make sure that I participate in class and in after school activities such as track and field and basketball because then my teachers and my coach could recommend me. This single goal persily will overall make me smarter and a hardworking student by the end of the year.
Since I would not accomplish my assignments, I knew this would affect my grade. Now I found ways to stay more organized in my assignments. For example, I now have the habit to write down all my assignments in a planner. Having a planner is very helpful, because now I am able to keep track of each assignment.
The goal that I have set for myself is to graduate high school on time with a 4.0, this goal will be difficult to achieve, but it will keep me focused throughout high school. This may be a huge challenge because I have
Progress made toward goal (list specific steps taken & include notes about your motivation and results):
There is three phase to goal-setting strategies (planning, implementation, and evaluation). The goal-setting program will be useful if the process is thoroughly carried out. For example, identifying the action and measuring the progress of each goal. The implementation portion will be to monitor the progress of each goal. The goals will change with time as an individual digest the goal itself. Lastly, receiving feedback from others, such as friends, colleagues, and family help improves the target strategy. Goal-setting creates a focus of attention and action by identifying what an individual vision of his or her life (Rohn, 2015).
Having regular goals are not the same as having SMART goals. SMART goals are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely. Smart goals will have individuals tackling their goals and making them into SMART ones to achieve greatness. I want my SMART goals to guide me on a secure path in college where I will not have to worry about not knowing what I am doing.
Goals can be used in any profession in an endless amount of ways. Goals not only keep the person or organization accountable but also help to achieve, track and make necessary changes. One system that follows these guidelines and much more is the SMART goals. This system helps to make quality goals that are clearly defined to ensure the success
Goals are a part of everyday life. From gaining the strength to get out of bed in the morning to winning that blue medal around your neck, everybody has made a goal once in their life. Sometimes it can be as easy as saying you’re not going to eat that last cupcake on the platter in front of you or as hard as saying “Hello” to that special someone in your life that you find adorable, either way you have made a goal. It’s also important to remember there is short term goals and long term goals. Short term goals are easier to achieve and can be very helpful in leading up to your long term goals. We can even classify our goals into personal goals, academic goals, and professional goals, as well as others.
“Never give up on a dream just because of the time it takes to accomplish it.” Earl nightingale. The last time I set a goal in seventh grade I accomplished it even tho it took a lot of time and effort. My goals this year I would like to accomplish is keeping my grades up, getting better in science, and keep on doing good in math.
A goal setting is best practice framework for setting goals. A SMART goal should be specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-bound.
The Human-Martian, Valentine Michael Smith, is a God-like figure who attempts to show the the truth about religion to the world and create a utopian society in the novel Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein. Heinlein served in the Navy and was a socialist politician before beginning his writing career. His second wife had a large influence on his political views and was the one who convinced him to run for the state assembly. After his loss, he became an author. Stranger in a Strange Land is Heinlein’s most popular book, however, his views on socialism and liberalism were not clear in his writings. Later written books and interviews gave his audience a better look on how he sees the two political views in his eyes. One of Michael’s phrases throughout the book, which had an impact on his world, is “Thou art God.” With these three words, he has been able to describe himself, and other creative/destructive beings that live upon the Earth as God. Not only have these words made an impression on individual characters, but also their communities. Jubal Harshaw is one of the few characters that Heinlein voices his thoughts through. With his advice and guidance, Mike convinced the world that he could make a paradise; a utopia.
Edgar Allen Poe’s short story , “ The Cask of Amontillado”, was quite different and very suspicious. This story takes place in the 18th or 19th century which, is noticeable throughout the readings. This story contains a lot of “outdated” or older terms not frequently used today. Its questioned where the story took place exactly. Why? because “Amontillado” is a Spanish wine, Fortunato and Luchesi are Italian names, and Montresor is a name from Scotland. The setting is not to clearly mentioned in the story. The main focus how ever contains two main characters, Montresor and Fortunato. Poe had created Montresor, who carried on as the narrator and the main character and the once great friend who turned into the victim of a wary crime. This
There are many goals that I have in my current life, some are more important than others, but I am committed to accomplishing the ones that will have a greater impact in both my professional and personal life. I am very optimistic that I will reach these goals with self-discipline and dedication. Below are my three main goals:
As it was described somewhere in this unit, SMART goals are good tools to be used in the realization or achieving our plans SMART stands for: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time-bounded. A smart goal will evidently decrease negative emotions such as irritation, upset or disappointment but instead will
