Democracy and respect for human rights have long been central pieces of U.S. foreign policy. Supporting democracy not only promotes such American values as religious freedom and worker rights, but also helps create a more secure, stable, and prosperous global arena in which the United States can advance its national interests. In addition, democracy is the one national interest that helps to secure all the others. Democratically governed nations are more likely to secure the peace, deter aggression, expand open markets, promote economic development, protect American citizens, combat international terrorism and crime, uphold human and worker rights, avoid humanitarian crises and refugee flows, improve the global environment, and help human …show more content…

The first idea of the Republican core value is the belief more in the ability of the people to solve problems and work for the common good of the country. Republicans simply believe the people can effectively find solutions to problems and issues with as little government help and assistance as possible. This gives power to the people by involving them in making important decisions and not allowing government to control all issues without the general populace being heard. While on the other hand, the Democratic Party believes more in the ability of government to solve problems and work for the common good of the country. This leaves the majority of the decisions in the hands of government, without involving the people. In theory, this gives the power to the politicians, who can make more educated and knowledgeable solutions to problems, involving the common person less of a voice and decision in government affairs as well as country affairs. While that isn’t all of the idea of the political parties you can see that both seem to have completely different opinions about what should be america’s core values. At the same time you can see that for the most part both of them wants to help the country’s people in the best way possible. How long would it take for chaos to set in and destroy not only the country’s sense of order, but the economy, resources, and general image of the country. Order implies a necessary loss of freedom if people are to survive. Democratic countries protect and care for individual freedom and generally believe that laws should not be repressive. A little order can be sacrificed if liberty happens to need one. So one kind of balance is between order and liberty. Governments should help preserve some degree of equality for their citizens while at the same time if they overemphasize equality, won't they restrict their citizens liberty? For example, governments can bring about more equality by taxing rich citizens more than the poor, but if they carry their policies too far, they could restrict the individual's freedom to work and hope for economic success.
