Panama was documented as Rio Bravo in 1849. It was nicknamed Panama because all of its similarities to the country of Panama. The education was taught by traveling Spanish Missionaries until 1869 when a Spanish teacher was hired by Thomas Castro. She was from Los Angeles and was paid a salary $25.00 per month ( That was a lot back then!). A long while later in 1873 the Panama School District was formed. It took 2 years for the first school to be made. The school was very miniscule , having only 11 students for a three month time period. Did you know school was relocated 4 times?! It was moved to its present location in 1880. Thomas Castro organizes another school and brings up a teacher from Los Angeles.

The workers started off by creating a railroad to cross over and deliver items/tools for the workers to use, while building the canal. They have to dig through the jungle and flatten out land. Once they were done with that they would dig and make river and stream holes. The workers would blow up the land connection to the river/stream hole to the ocean. That is so the water could get through the continent. Most of the workers came from African Areas or South America Areas. TNT (the bomb) was the object the workers would use to blow up the river/stream hold to the ocean.
So for my project I did honduras and here are some basic facts about honduras. Honduras is a Central American country with Caribbean Sea coastlines to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the south. In the tropical rainforest near Guatemala, the ancient Mayan ceremonial site Copán has stone-carved hieroglyphics and stelae, tall stone monuments. In the Caribbean Sea are the Bay Islands, a diving destination that's part of the 1,000km-long Mesoamerican Barrier Reef.
In the world there are various places that are attracted from people and culture around the world. Costa Rica is a country in Central America, bordered by Nicaragua to the north that is an amazing place to visit and learn from.

El Salvador the land of dictatorship, volcanoes, and tortillas.
Constructing the Panama Canal was not easy, they had to overcome diseases, deaths, machine problems and many more. Yellow fever has been around for centuries and the workers in panama contracted it. Not only that but mosquitoes that were carrying around malaria got a lot of the population sick/ infected. A man named walter reed had contracted malaria and survived. He requested 1 million for sanitation and killing mosquitoes but got denied, then he got the money he requested. He reduced the amount of infected people down to 5%. Besides diseases and animals there were bigger problems. The land. It was not level and there were mountains in the way. So they built locks to go over the mountains, but there is also flooding there so they built a dam. Still to this day their are still problems with the

Known for it’s natural beauty and gracious people is a small country located in Central America. Located between the countries of Nicaragua and Panama, bordered by both the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea is a true gem, the Republic of Costa Rica. Located ten degrees north of the equator Costa Rica is in the tropics and even though it is a small country it has a very diverse landscape and a variety of weather as well.
The dominican Republic is known as the breadbasket of the Caribbean because it grows, farms, and catches almost everything that’s served for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Dominican Republic was the first colony founded by Christopher Columbus. It used to go by “La Hispaniola” in colonial times. Also the flag of the Dominican Republic is the only national flag in the world to feature the image of a bible. My country is the Dominican Republic. I learned about the culture, food, religion, imports and exports, geography, sports, and family. All of it was very eye opening.
Cuba is a great country, with interesting things all around it. It is a great place to get spicy foods from, and education there is great. It is not how it used to be a century ago. Now, it is a beautiful island with a great coastline. The coastline has deep bays, coral reefs, and wonderful sandy beaches. Maybe one day I will visit Cuba.
Costa Rica is a very beautiful and unique place. It was my first time going there and I loved it! It was much different than the United States in ways I didn’t mind or even enjoyed. We saw many things and went many places while we were down there. I am ready to go back again already and do new, exciting things. However, we did a lot while we were down there.
