Another reason I chose See's Candies was I could make up a situation to shop with. I was a little surprised by the set-up of the shop, as I had never been in one before, but I liked the grayscale colorscheme of its interior. Most See's Candies have monochrome interiors, excluding the candy, of course. This is becuase the kitchen where Mary See, the mother of founder Charles See, made candy was black-and-white

The fungus is always present in small amounts within the mouth, skin, and digestive tract of healthy individuals and is normally kept under control by other microorganisms and bacteria. Events such as stress, illness, and the use of medications like birth control pills and corticosteroids can occasionally disrupt that balance in such a way that the candida fungus is allowed to grow unchecked, which leads to the development of oral thrush.
Invasive fungal infection (IFI) is one of the most common healthcare-associated infections in patients in intensive care units (ICUs), especially caused by Candida spp., typically ranking as third or fourth most common cause of bloodstream infection, which is related to considerable mortality and morbidity, posing a serious threat to the patient’s health as well as tremendous economic losses1-6. A prompt, appropriate antifungal treatment of IFI generally improves patients’ prognosis7,8. However, the treatment was frequently compelled to significant delay because of the relative insensitivity of blood cultures and the long turnaround time for culture to yield growth, leading to worse outcomes and higher mortality5,9,10.

In Voltaire’s novel Candide he uses the story of Candide to satirize and criticize organized religion and emphasize his own beliefs on simple religion. He criticizes the corruption, particularly of the Catholic Church in Europe in favor of his better religion. Voltaire effectively criticizes religious beliefs throughout Candide by emphasizing the downfalls of organized religions to show the benefits of simple religion. Voltaire’s criticism of religion is demonstrated through his characters, such as the kindness of the Anabaptist, Jacques which ends up killing him, or the old woman who was the daughter of Pope Urban X. He uses the city of Eldorado as an example of his belief in how religion and God work in a perfect society. I believe that Voltaire carefully crafts his argument against organized religion throughout the novel, with his ample attacks at organized religion trough his characters in Candide. Voltaire’s religious beliefs which revolved around the fact that he did not presume to know the nature of God are woven into the novels plot.
