On the 25th of July 2015, I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, Kai Reign Sarlie. Although my baby was a blessing, I suffered from obstructed labour also known as Dystocia, and trust me, this wasn’t easy.
Dystocia, also known as obstructed labour or difficult birth, is when the baby does not exit the pelvis during childbirth due to being physically blocked even though the uterus is contracting normally. Dystocia is mainly caused by a large or abnormally positioned baby, problems with the birth canal or a small pelvis. The most common type of Dystocia is shoulder dystocia.
The treatment for Dystocia includes a cesarean section or vacuum extraction with possible surgical opening of the symphysis pubis. When dealing with Dystocia, the mother
The statistics and facts above have demonstrated that removing Asperger’s Disorder from the DSM-5, as a mental health diagnosis, negatively affects an entire population of people, referred to as Aspies. The underlying issue is the power the DSM-5 manual has on overall mental health to determine identities, diagnosis, treatment health and mental health services, educational services and more. One DSM change has power to affect an entire population of people with developmental disabilities. It is important to understand how this affects our society as a whole by examining how this problem affects family, religion, government, and economy.
An out-of-body experience is explained by few as a sense of being detached from one’s body, and if associated with other factors like a sense that the world is not real, far away, or even foggy. This with the combination of failure to recall significant personal information, or the content of a meaningful conversation forgotten from one second to the next are signs of a psychological disorder known as Dissociative Disorder. Considered as a rare and mysterious psychiatric curiosity, Dissociative Disorders will be the psychological disorder that will be discussed in this paper.
The major psychological disorders fall under anxiety disorders, mood disorders, schizophrenia and other disorders such as eating, personality or dissociation disorders. By classifying these disorders, scientist can then describe and predict its future course. Mental health workers view psychological disorders as patterns of thoughts, feelings, or actions that are deviant, distressful and dysfunctional. The standard for what is deviant behavior is different in different cultures and in different context.
Provide a tentative diagnosis for each of the following case studies. Write at least one paragraph for each, justifying your answer in terms of the DSM-V criteria for that particular disorder. Remember, writing matters, as you will be judged on the quality of your communication as well as on the justification for the tentative diagnoses.
Baby Smarika was born approximately after 8 hours of labor. Smarika began to go into distress, which made doctor to perform a C-section of my wife. My eyes rolled into tears when I hold her after 10 minutes. I was amazed when I held her in the delivery room. My partner and I felt the biggest surge
Jeffrey was arrested in the same year, 1988, for sexually fondling and drugging a young teenage boy (age thirteen); for this, he was put on probation for five years and for one year he was assigned to a work release camp where he was registered as a sex offender from the incident with the thirteen year old boy. Due to good behavior and a built up trust with the authorities, Dahmer was paroled from his work release camp two months early.

A first time pregnant woman in labor who has limited medical knowledge about episiotomy may become frighten when all of a sudden as she is actively pushing, the provider tells her stop because the passageway to let the baby out is narrow, therefore he/she is going to perform a procedure which involves an incision made to the vagina that will assist the birthing process, therefore allowing the baby to be delivered easily and preventing further complications. To be an effective leader, it is essential to have great leadership traits. On the other hand, nobody is perfect so you may have some leadership qualities that could use some improvement. A good leader should have traits to lead in all different situations. I personally have many leadership traits that are transferable and can be used in many different situations. I also have skills that can be worked on to improve. I will work towards this to make myself a better and more effective leader.
I woke my boyfriend up and called my mother and we rushed to the hospital. I was nervous and excited at the same time. After eight hours of labor, the baby wasn’t cooperating at all. I wouldn’t dilate past eight and I already had three epidurals. I was in so much pain. After being in labor for twenty three hours, the doctors said it was time for a cesarean. I was so scared. All of a sudden, I heard my son screaming. My heart melted and I couldn’t keep the tears from coming. That was the best moment of my life. Justin and I named our son, Bentley Michael McCartney. He weighed eight pounds and thirteen ounces and he was twenty one inches tall. He was beautiful and healthy. Seeing my son made me realize that I was now an adult and I would be the best mother I possibly could be.
Capital punishment has been a constant heated debate throughout the world, let alone, America. This punishment, also known as the death penalty, is when a person who has been convicted by the court of law can be sentenced to death. Many may argue that Capital Punishment is inhumane, portrays social injustice and does not guarantee deterrence. With thirty two states that still use this form of punishment, passing an abolishment on the death penalty would be a wasteful time-consuming act when there are other social problems we should advert our attention towards, especially when bills and laws can take up to twenty years to pass through each level of government. A just society requires the death penalty for the taking of lives. The death penalty is a necessary punishment in the modern age due to increasing terrorism, serial killers, and heinous crimes that are being committed. It is not vengeful, just fair. Capital Punishment deters crime, provides closure and vindication, and prevents the power of re-offending using retribution. As a society we should
I will never forget the moment my labor began, the moment that marked that step in my journey into motherhood. I can remember everything about it so clearly. My mom, fiancé, and I woke up early Friday morning to make our way to Western Missouri Medical Center. I stood in front of the mirror looking at my belly knowing it would be my last time standing in that bathroom with my baby inside of me still. It was a bittersweet moment that I cherished as long as I possibly could. I was set to be induced that morning and very excited, yet a little bit nervous. I had no idea what to expect. I’d been waiting a very long 37 weeks to finally meet this precious human that had been growing inside me. I had ideas of what he might look like, and what the experience might be like, however nothing could have prepared me for what was in store over the next few days.
So far in the semester I have had a top three out of all the chapter and subjects we have learned about. I chose to start with psychological disorders because I find the concept of multiple personalities and what it abnormal and normal to be interesting. Second, I decided to go with sexuality and gender because sexuality is something that we all struggle with every day along with identifying who we are. Lastly, I decided to go with stress and health because stress is also something that we go through daily and struggle with.
