Maxwell wants us to know that it is not whether we will influence someone, but how we will use our influence. Influence is the measure of leadership and we can increase our influence and leadership potential if we understand the levels of leadership.

When we think about what a leader and manager is, most of us will use the same meaning. But in actual fact this is incorrect. We have to look at these two terms differently. What is a manager? A manager is someone who is responsible for directing and controlling the work and staff of a business, or of a department within the organization. So what is a leader? My leader of influence is SGM Escolithia Stackhouse. I met SGM Stackhouse when I first arrived at my first duty station at Fort Campbell, Kentucky in December of 2004. SGM Stackhouse was a SFC at that time and was assigned as the A Company, 563RD, Transportation Platoon, Platoon Sergeant. From the first day I met SGM Stackhouse I knew she was my mentor. She displayed character attributes, leader competencies, and a passion for the Army that I instantly admired.

Merriam-Webster defines legacy as “something transmitted by or received from an ancestor or predecessor or from the past” and a leader as “something that guides or directs”. When put together, a legacy leader is someone that has had a significant impact or influence on others through their leadership. Over the duration of my military career I have had many different types of leaders in all shapes and sizes. The leader that has had the most influence in my career as a professional and leader is Chief Warrant Officer 3 (Retired) Marc Brydges.

A legacy leader is someone who has left a positive and lasting impression in society due to his or her leadership qualities and/or traits. Abraham Lincoln is a prime example of a legacy leader due to the leadership traits he displayed throughout his presidency. Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States. He exhibited great leadership qualities such as integrity, duty, and selfless service. Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation and his decisive actions as commander-in-chief during the Civil War led to a victory for the Union, which created change that would forever affect the United States of America.

The ability to lead a whole civilization to the required goal is the essence of what leadership means. Being a respectable and responsible leader is difficult task as so much pressure is given and corruption can overwhelm them. The legacy of a leader is the knowledge of them and their work after they are gone. A leader can have a legacy if he or she was a positive leader or a negative leader. Henceforth, leadership and legacy have an influential role in all of history.

Leadership is something that we are all born with because we are all born. Therefore, who is a leader and who is not depends on who really wants to be a leader and who does not. Leadership is a skill and so it can be learned. As anything that is learned it demands practice and practice to be the best. It would not be something that will happen in a matter of a day. There are multiple elements that make a leader. Collaboration is a key element for successful teamwork. Therefore, a leader must always be in the look for ways to foster collaboration. Creating trust within the team, support face-to-face collaboration, transfer responsibilities when making decisions, and ultimately teach other how to be leaders. All of this is not done if it is not done from the bottom of your own heart.

Leading a group of people seems daunting, any miscalculations made could be blamed on the leader of the group. However, a natural leader would have the ability to direct the group towards a successful outcome. What is a “natural leader”? Somebody who is able to lead a group of individuals to achieve or accomplish a goal.

What I found most valuable from module six was Leadership Influence. I found developing and inspiring others with in the Leadership Influence most valuable because I have mixed emotions about my ability to develop and inspire others. I need to work on diagnose, adapt, and communicate more effectively to develop and inspiring my subordinates and peers. The reason I need to work on these are that sometimes I get get tunnel vision and just attack the problem at hand and forget to develop and inspire my subordinates. The first thing that I would apply to my work center is diagnose what is going.

Why, because millions of Americans are questioning why the President, seem divisive and name calling (tweeting) tactics, lying, and boastful. Sometimes it seems as if he is alienating some of his fellow Republicans and most of the Democrats in the Senate. The President is also has lied 1, 318 times since becoming president. He always tends to boast about how great he is. Our President sometimes Dipple and dapple in divisiveness. I think he feels to maintain power beyond 2017 he has to govern this way; to retain his support base. One has to consider his names calling pattern and insulting people could be a strategy he finds

When I think of Leadership Legacy, Derek Steffen is the first individual that comes to mind. Derek joined Students Today Alumni Tomorrow (STAT) during his initial weeks on campus as a first-year student. Quickly, he elevated into a leadership position within the organization. From there he only continued to bloom as an inspirational leader within the organization.

Over the years, a great deal of time, and research has been dedicate to the study of leadership. Even with extensive data on the topic, many still disagree on what leadership really means. Hence, leadership is a word that has many different meanings and different researched theories associated with it. On a basic level, leadership involves having and establishing a clear vision, sharing that vision with followers, respecting followers, and leading an organization with excellence while ensuring that everyone is part of the team. Leadership is also a method by which a leader uses his or her influence towards getting a group of followers to take ownership or buy into a vision.

The Harley Davidson brand has been one of the premier symbol and pioneering developers since the beginning of the motor cycle’s genesis. Also H-D’s brand is part of the iconic tapestry and foundation of the motorcycle industry.
