If you are not familiar with what Show Choir is, and the amount of time and work ethic you need, then you are in for a big surprise. Show Choir has evolved over the past years increasingly. Forget the young men and women in dark jackets and dresses standing on old risers and singing nice choral pieces. Show Choir has become a mini-musical sport. Many claim that Cheerleading and Marching Band is considered a sport, why should Show Choir be any different? Yes, show choir is mostly singing and dancing, but there is much more to it than one would think. I would know this because Show Choir has been a part of my life for almost 3 years now. I have experienced the hardship, fun, disappointment, pain, time, and joy, but it all paid off at competition when we would go to awards and see how we placed. Show choir is a sport, just as much as “cheerleading” or “marching band.”
I chose to join show choir because I thought it would be a good way for me to leave my comfort zone and try something new and fun. The first time I thought of auditioning for show choir was when I saw them perform during my sophomore year. They sang and danced to a song titled, "Till the Love Runs Out" and the sound and choreography they did just blew me away. I knew then that I wanted to be a part of that choir.
The presence of a passive audience facilitates the better performance of any show and encourages the performers to do well. In most cases, the success of any show, such as a comedy show, a dancing show, or a singing show depends on the audience. Vaudeville acts were not very famous until Keith and Albee, two entrepreneurs and the main characters in the second chapter, Vaudeville INC., of Robert Snyder’s book the Voice of the city, teamed up and reshaped the style of Vaudeville. In addition to their motivation to increase the popularity of vaudeville theater performances, “the middle class audiences” made a huge impact on vaudeville acts by attending them in great numbers. The development of vaudeville marked the beginning of popular entertainment as big business and demonstrated the changing tastes of an urban middle class audience. Keith and Albee made the tickets for vaudeville acts very inexpensive, ten cents a seat, and attracted the middle class. Shirley Staples, the author of Male-female comedy teams in American vaudeville,
This year has flown by quickly and sometimes I wonder where all the time went. When I first got my classes I was nervous because most of them were honors with two pre-AP classes. I learned that the classes were not hard if I studied and did my work. I wanted to drop out of my English class but my mother convinced me to stay in. My favorite class was science because we were always doing something interesting and I connected well with everyone. I got the opportunity to be in the school’s Show Choir which was amazing. I feel sad because in our Show Choir we are mostly composed of seniors so I got used to them and now I will miss them terribly. I feel like they were my second family.
As the type of person I am, I always want to be busy and don't like to just sit around doing nothing all the time. Almost all of the time I am out doing something that involves my family, friends, meeting new people, or trying new things. Most people think that it is weird that I like to be in so many things, but to me sitting around doing nothing is a waste of time and is boring.

Vaudeville, the forgotten type of theatre. During the mid-1800’s, people from across the world were starting to settle in the United States. The newly found ‘spike’ of the diversity of cultures and population, vaudeville quickly became the central point for the American cultural life.
YES! Even though they did NOT feature my project or announce me as a winner in any way on the show, I DID get an email confirming me as the third place winner in the Art of ReUse contest. I am so pleased because this item was something that I threw together at the last minute. I only had about 12 personal friends who voted for me, so this means that I must have had a decent number of honest-to-goodness EARNED votes! That makes me feel good, that people went and the selected it because they liked it, even though they had no idea who I was or anything about me. Then of course there was the whole saga where I was the only finalist not mentioned on the Today show, still not sure why, maybe because mine required a dog? Needless to say, I was SHOCKED to find out that I had placed at all!
Show choir, a favorite activity among many high school students, requires preparation and practice to be a top-notch performer. Although some schools go for a more complicated look, there are also schools that go for a simpler way. Whether the preparation is over the top or simple, you must follow the steps of doing your makeup, fixing your hair, and getting dressed.
“Media change does not necessarily result in equilibrium. It sometimes creates more than it destroys. Sometimes, it is the other way around. We must be careful in praising or condemning because the future may hold surprises for us” (Postman 29). Media critic Neil Postman published those words in 1985 in his book, Amusing Ourselves to Death: Public Discourse in the Age of Show Business. Yet, as we find ourselves in 2015, his insight seems written for today. In our age where society is still elusively trying to grasp and figure out what place new media and technology hold within our lives, and where debating the merits and flaws of an increasingly technological society seems to be a hot-button issue, Postman had already commented on such

This semester I have experience many live musical performances. Some of these performances have let me down but for the most part, these performances have been everything I ever expected. My two favorite performances this semester were Festival Vallenato and Ultra Music Festival. Although these two types of music are different in every way possible, the people and the performers are exactly where I feel I am in the right place.
