Nelson “Rolihlahla” Mandela was born July 18, 1918 in a tiny village called Mvezo in South Africa. ”Mandela was the father to six children and was a husband to three wives. Mandela's first wife was Evelyn Ntoko Mase, and they had four children together. In 1957 they got divorced and Mandela married Winnie Madikizela and they had two kids together. In 1996 they split and two years later Mandela married Graca Machel. Rolihlahla was Mandela’s actual name but His teacher, a missionary, gave him the name Nelson on his first day of school. According to nelsonmandela.org"Rolihlahla in the Xhosa language literally means "pulling the branch of a tree, but more commonly translates as troublemaker."
