There are some observable signs that will give a small insight of what the company represents, but these physical symbols do not define the company as a whole. Every company has a story behind it. For the Ralph Lauren Corporation the story behind it is the founder Ralph Lauren himself. Ralph Lauren born in 1939 grew up in the Bronx, New York with his siblings. Just like any other kid, growing up he liked playing sports with his siblings and the other kids in his neighborhood. Ralph was different from the other kids because he would wear suits at the age of 12. While growing up his family was not wealthy, enough afford suits. When Ralph would get out of school, he would work to buy his own suits. (Polan, 2009, p. 146)
Discharged from the military, Ralph had a job with a tie manufacture named Abe Rivetz. “Ralph designed wide ‘kipper’ ties, which called for a ‘big knot’.
