Sarcoma is a cancerous disease which develops from the soft tissues and or bone of the human body. Given this, sarcomas have been divided into two general groups: soft tissue sarcoma (STS) and osteosarcoma. STS may develop from soft tissues such as muscle, fat, nerves, blood vessels, or deep skin tissues. Sarcomas may spread throughout the body or may stay in one place. Furthermore, being affected by a cancerous disease causes proliferation of the connective tissue and or organs causing lumps to be formed. Given the status of the lumps they may be identified as various types. STS is a very rare cancer with approximation of about 1% among adults and 15% among the children. There has been no identification of definite causes but risk factors
The symptoms form Ewing’s sarcoma is pain, swelling, stiffness, or tenderness of the bone or the surrounding tissue. There may also be a lump near the surface of the skin that may feel warm and soft to the touch. The patients may also have a fever that does not go away. The sarcoma may cause weakening of the bone with the tumor, resulting in the integrity of the bone, thereby having the bone break due to a very minor injury.
Clear Cell Sarcoma is a rare type of cancer that usually affects young adults between the ages of 20 to 40 years old, not to be confused with Clear cell sarcoma in the kidney. Clear cell sarcoma is a genetic mutation, in chromosomal translocation, the two pieces of chromosomes are switched, which results in abnormal fusion of genes. When this happens, the clear cell sarcoma tumor
Osteosarcoma(OS) is a primary malignant tumor of bone which is characterized by the formation of osteoid tissue. Although it is the most common malignancy of long bones after multiple myeloma [2], it is a relatively rarer entity in the craniofacial region. About 6% of Oss arise in the jaws .The estimated incidence of the new cases of Jaw OS (JOS) per year is 0 .07 in 100,000. (1) The etiology of OS is unknown, but some risk factors such as a previous history of ionizing radiation, alkylating agent, retinoblastoma and benign bone lesions such as paget disease and fibro osseous dysplasia have been associated with the development of head and neck OS.(2-4) JOS occur with a peak in the third through fifth decades of life. The mean age is
Solid tumors can be either malignant or benign. Malignant solid tumors are cancerous, while benign solid tumors are not. The names of solid tumors vary depending on the cells or tissues that from them. Examples of solid tumors include sarcomas (connective tissues e.g. fat cells, muscles, nerves, tendons etc), carcinomas (begin in tissues that lines the internal surface of the body and body organs e.g. breast, lung, prostrate, and colon), Lymphomas (affects the immune system).
Malignant melanoma of the nail apparatus is extremely rare but there have been a few cases reported. It seems that almost half of the population that has been diagnosed with this disease has been misdiagnosed or did not receive the proper treatment to cure the disease. Since the cases are easily misdiagnosed, fatality is usually the outcome for most. Survival rate of this particular disease in recent studies has shown that humans live on average five years after being diagnosed with melanoma of the nail. The disease can affect either the upper or lower nail extremities. The scientist tested seven people, three males and four females, to see how this disease effects each of the patients.
The pensive boys collaborated to create ways to escape the island. Ralph, the leader of the group, had the idea to start a signal fire. Once this idea was announced to the assembly the boys dashed to the top of the mountain. After setting the fire, it quickly began to spiral out of control. The soon uncontrollable fire spread down one side of the island. The majority of the boys were mesmerized by the unmanageable fire, while piggy, being the intellectual of the group saw the dangers. The rowdy boys were incited by the fire, but soon after Piggy expressed his concerns. An uncontrollable fire can be deadly, it can be difficult to hinder and Piggy realized this. He expressed his thoughts about the threats the fire could cause to all of them.
One specific type of cancer is called Angiosarcomas, or cancer of the endothelial cells. This is a rare, and very serious form of cancer. This type of cancer occurs in the head and neck region, and it usually appears in the scalp of the elderly. Occasionally
Geoffrey Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales are considered a work of satire towards medieval society by many literary critics. Chaucer uses the Wife of Bath as a prime way to quip a key fourteenth century belief. During this era, medieval society is very hierarchal and hinders many people. One of the most notable groups that are restrained are women. The Wife of Bath is appalled by this. She is a progressive lady who implies that men are not in control of society. She infers that women are running everything from behind the curtain with men merely being used as puppets. As such, she narrates a tale that mocks male superiority and spouts a pro-women tale.
I have a few reasons on wanting to examine this topic. I will probably never be able to understand exactly why or how cancer forms or why it affects certain people, I want to try to continue my research over this type of cancer because it is one that has greatly affected my family. The purpose for this paper is to give my audience a better understanding of osteosarcoma and the way it is formed and the symptoms, what metastasized forms of cancer are, and why osteosarcoma mostly happens in children and young
There are two extensive classes into which all malignancy types can be isolated: hematological, which are blood-borne diseases and strong tumors, which are the developments depicted previously. Every kind of disease has an extraordinary name, more often than not originating from the range of the body which is fundamentally influenced. For instance, delicate tissue tumors are dangerous developments which happen inside the profound muscle or interfacing tissues all through the body. Melanoma is a sort of skin growth, which influences cells containing skin pigments.
Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is a locally invasive tumor of the epidermal keratinocytes. The skins upper layers, also known as the epidermis, is composed of squamous cells, when they become abnormal, they grow uncontrollably. SCCs appear as scaly red patches, open sores, elevated growth with a central depression. If untreated, they grow and either become disfigured or die. SCC is caused by extensive exposure to UV light that comes from the suns rays over a long period of time. They may occur on all areas of the body but are usually found on areas that are most exposed to the sun on a daily basis. SCC is normally treated with surgical excision with wide margins of skin that appears normal to ensure that the tumor has been successfully removed.
Skin conditions such as rashes, redness, and itching are considered to be among the most common side effect of chemo. Some of them are minor and can be handled with no more than using a topical cream or lotion, others may require more in-depth prescription treatment. Often referred to as chemo rash or chemo itch, these side effects are directly correlated to the various drugs used in the treatment of many forms of cancer.
The oppression of women is seen throughout time and well documented within the Old Testament. Specifically, one can examine the scriptures of the book of Exodus to see this oppression. More importantly, the bible shows that this oppression is not able to reach its goal. Today, this is seen in corporate cultures within various Fortune 500 industry leaders. Through the book of Exodus and examining corporate cultures around women in leadership. One can see how the Old Testament still speaks truth, as the lessons are applicable in the present day.
Ewing's sarcoma is a rare type of cancer that grows in the bones. It is usually found in longer bones of the arms or legs. The thigh bone (femur) is the bone most often affected, followed by the bones of the pelvis, lower leg, upper arm (humerus) and chest.
Rhabdomyosarcoma is the most common soft tissue sarcoma in children. It makes up a little more than 3% of childhood
