The Sinan Shipwreck is a Chinese cargo ship that sank off the coast of South Korea in c.1323 AD during the Yuan Dynasty. The ship left Ning-po on the Eastern Chinese Seaboard and was carrying cargo to Japan when it wrecked, less than a month after departing from China.
That has been what I have been doing on the ship for the last year. It wasn’t always just me doing this; I am the last member of my crew on its way back to earth. My crew, my friends, my family, all gone and I don’t even know how it happened. Maybe it happened when they were on there way back from the surface or maybe something went wrong on the ship ether way, all that’s left of the explosion is a big hole in the shuttle bay and a lot of gamma radiation. In fact the gamma rays are the only thing keeping me from investigating the area.
Whaleboy stands in his new kingdom as he began making his favorite snack. He starts with the spread, a nice layer of sandy JIF. Then he adds exactly four lime slices, all perfectly juicy. Next, he adds precisely 3 and half servings of barnacles. Lastly, the final ingredient: sixteen-month-aged tubeworms. “Aaah, the perfect SANDwich,” Whaleboy grins. Before he sat down, Whaleboy adjusted the photo of him and his father on the wall. He sits down in his throne made up of old dolphin bones and sighed. He Is happy and satisfied. He had saved the ocean, his kingdom was happy, and he had the best sandwich in his hand.
I have chosen to critic William Bradford’s Shipwreck off Nantucket 1860-1861 oil on canvas. Let’s take a closer look at this paintings elements and principles.
First and foremost, humans are pushing sharks out of their homes and further inland, causing shark attacks. One piece of evidence that stuck out to me was, oil spills cause sharks and other fish to swim inland, because when a shark swims through oil, the oil layers on top of the gills. Therefore, they can not breath, imagine trying to breathe through your mouth with a water bottle over it filled with water. It's not possible to breath without sucking in water, it is like the same thing for sharks with oil. It is important to note this, because the freshest water for a shark or any fish to swim in is toward the shoreline, they would have to swim in this water to be able to breath. Furthermore, “five or six people die each year from a shark, around 100,000,000 sharks die each year from humans”, fisherman on boats to this day, still real sharks in and cut their dorsal fins off. Along with that, sharks will swim into the shore trying to find

Based on June Dwyer’s article, Yann Martel’s Life of Pi and the Evolution of the Shipwreck Narrative, the ages of characters in literature are directly proportional to their dominance over animals in shipwreck narratives. Dwyer expands on this when he discusses Tzvetan Todorov’s human/animal relations: equal standing, subjective ownership, and complete dominance. Childlike characters customarily will treat animals as their equals without any desire to enforce control. Specifically, Dwyer employs the children’s story Amos and Boris, by William Steig, to further explain the relationship. In the book, a lost mouse and an amiable whale become the best of friends as they travel back to Amos’ home in Africa. Steig purposely made both characters animals,
Ship of Fools by Katherine Anne Porter is a fictional story that focuses on many people of different races on ship Vera. Katherine Porter has characters in the novel that are basically living in the 20th century where Germans greatly despised Jews. Jews were currently at the center of the blame because Hitler needed to place the blame on someone. This book discusses the topic of prejudice and hatred. This treatment is unjust and went against human rights.
It’s that time of year again, when boats are on the water and folks are in high spirits in
Throughout history, there are people that make their names known; some of which, are known for terrible acts against humanity. There are also people whose heroism will be remembered for as long as the universe allows; those who spoke their minds and fought for justice despite the repercussions. Nobel Peace Prize Winners, Dictators, United States Presidents, Civil Rights activists, and celebrities all make appearances on both of these lists. Overlooked is often the way in which all of these people came about, the reason they have and had a voice: politics. Unknown by many, politics, more specifically democracy, began at the hands of pirates.(5) While not even close to the type of politics that is seen and studied on a daily basis, democracy
December 6, 1606, many women and children of every age said goodbye to their loved ones. They said goodbye to their sons and their husbands. They said goodbye to their brothers and friends. They said goodbye to 104 Men and Boys who set out on a mission to discover new land, to make a better life for their families. The new and fun addition to the genre. Magmus Chase is another great demigod story. Magmus Chase and the Gods of Asgard: The Ship of the Dead by Rick Riordan is a good reading choice because of its well written story. In this the final and climatic book there is excitement, humor, and a little bit of romance. There is well written character development, and engaging conflict, and interesting dialog. It’s interesting theme, characters, and use of literary tools makes this a great read for all ages.
There have been many oil spills in the ocean, some big and some small. All of these oil spills have had a huge effect on the wildlife in the ocean. The oil from the oil rig stays on the surface of the water because oil is less dense than the water, this causes the oil to just float cause it can't go anywhere else and it won't mix in with the water. This is harmful in so many different ways to the life in the ocean. The oil can prevent sunlight from penetrating the surface, which can cause it to be dark under the surface. The oil also can cover thousands of birds, mammals, and sea turtles. When birds land in the water they become covered in oil. The oil ruins the insulating and waterproofing properties of the fur and feathers, and without feathers
Since I grew up inside a house beside the beach, I love the sea and I really love boating, especially if my noisy peers are with me. When I was just a little boy, I dreamed of owning a boat-a boat that has fancy stuff on it. So when I finally earned a quite large amount, I bought my dream pontoon boat and bought for it almost every accessory available-marine stereo, barbecue grill, bimini top and a few more. Almost every week my friends and I would go out to show my boat off. When it was time again for us to work, i made sure to protect my boat by covering it with high quality cover.
There are over 100 million sharks in the world, and around 440 known species of sharks. Some sharks are harmless, but there are some types of sharks that are known for attacking and sometimes killing humans. Because of this, many people are terrified of sharks and when they go to the beach they don’t even want to get into the water. Are people actually even in danger of being killed by a shark? In this research paper I will be talking about that. Where do shark attacks happen? How often do shark attacks actually happen? What kinds of sharks are the most dangerous? What do you do if you’re being attacked by a shark? How do we prevent shark attacks from occuring? I will also be including new types of technology that could save people from future
