If I could be any animal, I would be a swan. Swans are simple, elegant creatures, but can have a powerful "punch" if messed with. Swans are great swimmers, but they also live and eat on land. During the summer, I live in the pool, but I come to eat and sleep. Swans are large, aquatic birds. They are known for their fierce temperant and have powerful wings that can be fatal to any animal that it feels threatened by. Swans build their nests on land from twigs and leaves. They nest near water so they a raised their young. Swans have many adaptions to survive life on the water. The adaptions to survive life on the water. The first animal that corresponds to my life is an otter. The reason an otter is my first choice is because an otter is a usually playful and easygoing animal. When I was younger I use to be the same. To me, as a younger child, life was all fun and games, but since I have now matured in age I understand that not everything is always a game . Otters also have the tendency to be solitary and protective.
I have shown a variety of both livestock and general projects in my ten years as a 4-H member. My first livestock project was Mallard ducks and since then my waterfowl project has expanded. I showed my Mallard ducks for five years. Unfortunately a mink killed my entire flock. After I lost my flock, I was given a set of Giant African Dewlaps from a family friend which I named Linus and Lola. A few years later the same family friend offered to give me his pair of Giant Toulouse Dewlap geese. He was having difficulty finding someone to take care of them when he traveled and felt they could have a better home with me. I have shown these geese at the Illinois State Fair and have won Best Heavyweight Goose and Gander and Reserve Best Heavyweight

Whooping cranes nearly died out in the mid 20th century, with a count finding only 16 living birds. But since then, these endangered animals have taken a step back from the brink of extinction. Breeding programs have boosted their numbers, and breeding efforts have raised the number of wild birds to over 200, with roughly the same number living in captivity. These white birds are the tallest in North America. They live in family groups and stay in marshes, shallow lakes, and lagoons. Cranes feed by foraging with their bills and gobbling up plants, shellfish, insects, fish, and frogs.
The Great Blue Heron is one of six species of Herons. Great Blue Herons live in fresh and saltwater marshes, isolated swamps or on islands and near lakes and ponds that have neighboring forests. During the summer they stay in parts of southern Canada and the Midwestern United States. During the winter they reside in Mexico. They migrate in groups of 3-100 in August to the southern coast of the U.S., Mexico, and Central America, sometimes traveling as far as Panama.
The western snowy plover (Charadrius alexandrinus nivosus) has a pacific coast population that breeds primarily on coastal beaches from southern Washington to southern Baja California, Mexico. The major coastal habitats include sand spits, dune-backed beaches, beaches at creek and river mouths, and salt pans at lagoons and estuaries. Other nesting locations include bluff-backed beaches, dredged material disposal sites, salt pond levees, dry salt ponds, and river bars (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, 2001). Plovers often return to the same breeding sites yearly. Nesting locations occur in flat, open areas that have sparse vegetation with sandy or saline substrates. Western snowy plovers have been listed as threatened on the federal endangered species list since 1993, and are listed as a species of special concern by the state of California (California Department of Parks and Recreation, 2015).

Within a few hours we became brutally aware of reality: the forced labor, the experimental operations on young girls, the transport noirs, individual and mass executions, the ill being, “put out of their misery,”, the dogs, the beatings, and the gas chambers (Tillion p.5). Ravensbruck was torture and misery for every living soul in the camp, no matter which nationality or religion. The labor concentration camp was a living nightmare for the females that were kept there to be used as slaves or guinea pigs.
The swan represents the good in all of the horribleness happening in the world. It shows that even with war raging and Anoosh being sent to be executed, a small piece of bread can bring joy into people’s lives. This symbol is shown when Anoosh says, “I made you another bread-swan. It’s the uncle of the first one. Star of my life” (p. 69)
In the Orient, particularly South and East Asian, the red-crowed cranes, or technically Grus Japonensis, are viewed as a symbol of long life, fidelity, and luck. It is also a common practice to have their pictures or statues in the house and sacred places as a charisma. However, in spite of their popularity in terms of images, their population is the opposite. It is a must to take action to protect them, not just because they are beautiful and rare species, but also because they contribute to the diversity and the ecosystem.
