Career and College Research Paper “When you’re a nurse you know that everyday you will touch a life or a life will touch yours” ("Home"). Pursuing nursing, specifically Registered Nursing (RN) was never a question, I have always known that is what I would become. Registered Nurses work for patient care, and explains and teaches patients about their health care needs. Nursing has been in my family now for three generations and I am here to carry out the legacy. Work that is involved on a basic daily routine is somewhat unordinary. Occasionally you won’t have the same patients, or you may not work the same hall or even the same shift. You can have from 1 to 8 patients at a time which makes time with your patients limited. The duties of a Registered Nurse (RN) are typically as follows; recording past medical history, setting up care plans, observing the patient and following their progression, talking to the doctor about the patient's care, using and also observing medical equipment, teaching the patient or the family how to continue care for the patient’s problem, and explain how to do it at home. …show more content…

There is another major Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) that also leads to becoming an RN the differences between the two vary. To be accepted into Oklahoma University you are required to have an SAT score of 1230, and an ACT score of 26. In the meantime you are also required to have maintained a 3.59 GPA in high school. There are other activities that are great to be seen on your college applications that can help with your acceptance rate. The entrance requirements to get into the RN program are firmly based on transcripts. In order to be prepared there are a few things I am able to do for the bettering of myself. To help me stay on track I have set goals that will keep me on the path to success to be accepted into OU. For the remainder of the year I can use better test taking strategies and also strive to become involved in as many extra curricular activities as possible. Another goal I plan to achieve is getting and maintaining a high GPA minimum of 3.59. I’ll be able to obtain this if I am motivated by friends and family and therefore
