Research Design and Methodology Those interviewed in the study included a Gang Task Force Officer, a Patrol Deputy, a Criminal Investigator Detective, a Juvenile Detention Officer, a Probation Officer and, a CPS Worker. The Gang Task Force Officer was selected due to the first hand knowledge members of the task force have on gangs. Gang Task Force Officers are also highly trained to enhance enforcement efforts by collaborating with both federal and state law enforcement agencies in an attempt to stamp out gang activity. Primarily, gangs remain the primary focus of the Gang Task Force Officers and in that regard; members of the task force are charged with the investigation of the background as well as activity of gangs. Thus members of the task force in this case also possess firsthand knowledge regarding families of gang members. Thus a member of the task force can be viewed as an asset to this study. The Patrol Deputy was selected due to the crucial role such an officer plays when it comes to the control as well as suppression of both gang activity and family violence. Basically, a patrol deputy is charged with the apprehension of offenders as well as the reduction of criminal activities through the enforcement a wide range of measures including but not limited to preventive patrol. In regard to Gangs, the Patrol Deputy responds first and completes a profile which is then utilized by the Gang Task Force in the ensuing proceedings. Hence ideally, the Patrol Deputy
