To whomever it may concern, Unfortunately for many months I have struggled with the decisions and environment of Plymouth. I have come to the realization that I must submit my letter of resignation, and ask to be removed as a member and all other duties that come along with it. I no longer feel welcome, and it is bring me further from God. Some of my reasons for leaving, which I will further explain later in this letter include: standing on gay marriage, boycott of Israeli made products, and lack of faith and confidence in the leadership of the church, particularly the pastor. As many of you know I have a very conservative outlook, and our recent gay marriage support has troubled me. I have always felt that marriage is between one man …show more content…
I have always felt a very strong connection to the bible itself and its teachings, and Israel is an imperative part of the book. While certain decisions that have been made in that area are questionable, it is one-sided to boycott the entire country when a great deal of people have done nothing wrong and are attempting to make a living for themselves. It is evident that I have always been very interested in the financials of our church and recently they have bothered me. It seems we have been frivolously spending money lately, and while it may appear like small amounts at the time, it all adds up. When financials are as tight as they currently are we must first worry about keeping the lights on. This was especially evident to me when we decided to spend money for Pride in the Park combined with the add we purchased. Finally, the recent decision to have our Saturday worship on the same day as an already existing church activity has really rubbed me the wrong way. For nearly a decade members of our church have made the evening meal at Churches United For the Homeless, and I feel it was a poor decision to have our bimonthly Saturday worships overlap directly with that ministry. It not only takes volunteers away from Churches but also takes people away from
Pastor Fred Dyess had retired after serving as pastor for thirty years and Director of Missions for the Baptist Association of Greater New Orleans for fourteen years. The Lord called him out of retirement to start a new church. Bro. Fred checked with the Eastern Louisiana Baptist Association Director of Missions, David Brown, to learn what areas the association had targeted for a new church and what was needed. He was told that the Louisiana Baptist Convention required a new church to have a sponsoring church. Dr. Roger Dunlap and Macedonia Baptist Church gladly voted to be our sponsoring church. The Louisiana Baptist Convention and the Eastern Louisiana Baptist Association each gave Victory a budget supplement of $500 per month decreasing
I am concerned. I always want our church to be current when it comes to assessments. So, please allow me to ask a few questions that might help me understand.
It was great news when you called this morning to offer me the position as "Office assistant" for Bell Tower On 34th. Please consider this letter my formal acceptance.
Thank you for your response. I actually already adjusted my post to meet the 350 word count to be on safe side. I hope it meets what you're looking for. I know for next time that we can exceed it if needed.
As you know, just over 1 year ago I volunteered to take over the organizational aspect of the Communion Team. Even though I made it clear at the time that I did not feel led to become the Spiritual Leader of the team, I have somehow "evolved" into part of that as well. God rarely consults me prior to such events seeking my approval! (fortunately!)
At the beginning of the letter, one can see that I am using “I can’t” four times. I used here an anaphora because I wanted to insist, to emphasize and really to show Connie how ‘desperate’ I was. It might me a big word but it was how I felt: desperate, sad and speechless. It also gives an idea to the reader, an idea that what I will speak about won’t be happy and joyful in my letter.
When I call my doctor’s office for an appointment, I expected that they will welcome me with a nice smile and nice talk. I also expected that they will ask me any concern about my health that way the physician will know about my health. I also expected that ,I may wait at least 10 minutes when I got there because I use to go to my family doctor and I always punctual but they didn’t call me on time. Sometimes I waited them for at least 10-15 minutes. I believe some of the important questions should be asked of the patients will be the following: How long has this been going on for? Are you allergic to any medications? Do you have any non-medication allergies? How would you describe the pain? How did the pain start? What do you think made you
A same-sex marriage is a hot topic in today’s politics and society. Our views are changing each day as our culture is changing. Today nearly fifty percent of American’s support same-sex marriages. We are changing our views to be more accepting of all and that is why party stances on this issue are very subject to change.
political debate over the decisive issue of gay marriage forces us to rethink our commitment to
I support the republican platform on the issue of homosexual marriage. Marriage has been traditionally defined as a recognized union between a man and a woman. Since the law has changed, dictionaries have now added that it is also between two people of the same sex. (Merriam-Webster). Marriage has been traditionally recognized, condoned, and conducted by the church of your choice. It is spiritual in nature, based on the natural attraction and love of town persons of the opposite sex. Many citizens in this day and age have come to believe that it is strictly a legal status, given its tax breaks and advantages. The Democratic Party and Supreme Court have taken the sanctity of marriage and traditions of the church and made it about discrimination. There are other ways to stop discrimination without crushing the values and beliefs that America was founded on. Democrats have taken a blind eye on separation of church and state with this issue. Due to the stated discrimination issue and the governments need to step in and correct what they think is a deficiency, there should have been a measure taken to not involve the government into the business of the church. A legal status could have been given to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community (LGBT). That legal status would have allowed the LGBT community to enjoy the same
In today’s society there are items of public interest that will always be debated among the political parties. Some of those topics get quite heated in the debates. Gun control, gay marriage, civil rights, and healthcare to mention a few that are hot topics among the political debates. Gay marriage has been a topic that has been talked about in the last several years. Only twenty years ago it was on the law books in every state that it was illegal to marry someone of the same sex. Just twenty years later the rulings have been reversed. The church has spent a lot of time fighting to keep what we believe to be a moral issue and a stronghold for the family unit of having a husband and a wife to care for
According to the CBS News Poll, 58% of Americans believe it should be legal for same-sex couples to marry (Polling Report, June 9-13, 2016). Since recent years, the support for same sex-marriage has steadily increased. In fact, according to the Gallup Poll, 61% of Americans believe that same-sex couples should validly be recognized by the law with the same rights as traditional marriages (Gallup Poll, May 4-8, 2016). Over time, the idea of marriage has transformed from the union of a man and woman to the union of two people who love each other regardless of their sexual orientation. In fact, according to the CNN/ORC Poll, 59% of Americans support the ruling of the Supreme Court regarding the legalization of same-sex marriage in all fifty states (Polling Report, June 26-28, 2015). Based on these polls, Americans generally support equal rights for all individuals regardless of their sexual orientation. Therefore, a majority of Americans favor government involvement to ensure equal rights for all individuals regardless of their differences. Therefore, the position of most Americans regarding same-sex marriage supports the idea that Americans are generally reform liberalists in their
Republicans are disagreeing with this idea and would prefer to maintain in traditional marriage where man and women are giving something unique to their children, they are complementary. Leaving in a family where is too fathers may impact a child and having not enough of mothers love which may make him angry, excommunicated and other social disorders, in contrast having two mothers may make a child too sensitive and doubtful throughout their entire life. Every child has to have a mix of man and women’s traits. I am not against gay marriage, but I do believe that it may have an effect on our future generation in that the best way. According to article “Why traditional marriage matters most” Ryan T. Anderson holds a conservative opinion on marriage where both man and women take role in child’s development. In traditional role man and women have different roles; men tend to have muscular, aggression and ambitious traits and women famine and nurture traits both these are necessary better child’s impression of
Greetings, sir. I would like to start this letter by cordially wishing you a great day. I know you are working hard to make this a better country. But I would tell you something that bothers me. Well not just only me, I'm sure a lot of people, too. I was asked the other day why cubical and political participation among us, citizens, is important. And since then I couldn't get of my head. I think that our participation is very important because we can't let anyone make decisions for us. You see, we are not kids anymore. Without our participation in politics we would be letting people, that we don't know or people that don't know about us or what we need, decide about what is “best” for our country. And I can assure you, I am not the only who
The majority of the time a conservative politician is talking about same-sex marriage, they almost always refer to The Bible as their argument. The book of Leviticus is a notorious reference when it comes to criticizing same-sex marriage. The books states that "The Lord spoke to Moses, saying: Speak to the Israelite people and say to them: ... Do not lie with a male as one lies with a woman. It is an abhorrence" (Leviticus 18: 1, 2, 23). Since it is stated in this book, many Americans believe that because weddings are religious ceremonies that there should be no homosexuality involved. There is a huge flaw in this argument is in the Bill of Rights, Amendment I states that: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;" (The Bill of Rights). There is no established religion within the United States, and there never will be, as long as that law stands. Marriage is a union of two people recognized by the state - a civil right. It is ordinary for a church to be aware of the ceremony as well; however, when a couple gets married in a city hall, the marriage is not recognized by a church. If two people are married by a judge, the marriage is not recognized by a church. So in all reality, same sex marriages would not have to be acknowledged by any religious group in order to be legal. A person who uses things such as The
