Respect is defined “as a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements.” A little more common interpretation of this word is; something that is earned through hard work, honesty, and fairness. Respect is the basis for a person’s life and almost everything they do revolves around it. Respect is important in every aspect of a person’s everyday life. Respect is something that a person must work for, it can not be just given to anybody. Respect is also something that can be easily lost if not taken seriously. All it takes to lose the respect of someone is to simply bad mouth them or do anything to disappoint or hurt them in any way. Respect is very important in many aspects of the everyday life. Whether it’s in a relationship, or in the workplace, or even when a person is around family, respect is needed in order to make the most out of every experience. Respect has a place in many pieces of a person’s life, in a way it defines the events in which the individual partakes in; their job, their relationship, and the gathering with their families. Respect is earned through hard work and honesty. Another important part to gaining the respect of another individual is to respect them as well. This is an important step to earning the respect from another person, and it is often neglected because most people think that they should be respected before they should respect another individual. While most people would like to think that this is true it is the complete opposite of what should be done. This alone can make respect hard to obtain especially in the workplace and in many relationships. Respect seems hard to give up due to this idea, but in most cases whenever a person begins to show respect to another person, that person will start to do the same.
