Dealing with conflict is a way to see different personalities in people.
Some individuals decide to take action to handle the situation while others won’t. There are people like Winston Churchill, a leader , who is brave and will not back down. On the contrary Shmuel , a prisoner at a concentration camp, deals with conflict the opposite way that Churchill does. Although their struggles are a bit different , this shows what kind of person they are. Leaders are who people rely on because of how they deal with challenges. When confronted with a conflict Churchill will go through any obstacle to win. This is shown is his quote from his speech “Blood Toil Tears and Sweat,”
Certain leaders deal with challenges and solve them in the end. When confronted with a conflict people like Sir Winston churchill will solve and deal with their difficult situations. In the quote “I say it is to wage war by land, sea, and air. War with all of our might and with all the strength God has given us…” is proving that he deals with his situations very seriously. As a result of Churchill’s ability to resolve conflict, he will most likely be able to complete his tasks about his problems. People like Sir Winston Churchill will find conflict straightforward to deal with.

Zig Ziglar once said, “Positive thinking will let you do everything better than negative thinking will.” In more than one way Ziglar was correct in saying this, a positive attitude is better than a negative one, especially when it comes to conflict. Anne Frank and Mrs.Breed both show how a positive attitude towards a problem would help more than a negative one. In my experience, negative thinking results in more conflict, which means, positive thinking results with a solution, most of the time. This leads me to believe, a positive attitude is the best response to conflict.
The third form of Conflict management is Accommodation. When the task at hand is more important than the conflict that has arisen and when relationships may be damaged putting the entire project in jeopardy. Winston Churchill was a powerful leader for Britain in WWII and made many large decisions on their involvement and strategies. Known for being very confident, having a fiery temper and a caustic wit, he captivated his followers. Although his rebellious nature gave him a lot of enemies, he used it to his advantage and possessed all the traits of a great leader. Before Churchill became Prime Minister, Neville Chamberlain was in command of England. Chamberlain was not as strong of a personality, and gave in to all of Germany’s demands of giving up territory in order to keep the peace.
When faced with a conflict, people tend to panic and overlook many important details. If someone were to keep clear headed, they could come up with a way to solve the problem or get through it. A small Drenthe village was able to save many Jewish people from the holocaust by thinking of clever ways to decieve the Natzis. In order for their child and themselves to survive, they were willing to make a hard sacrifice for the greater good.
Conflict is a fact of life - for individuals, organizations, and societies. The costs of conflict are well-documented - high turnover, grievances and lawsuits, absenteeism, divorce, dysfunctional families, prejudice, fear. What many people don't realize is that well-managed conflict can actually be a force for positive change.
In trying to resolve the conflict between Reece and Patel, Edwards used an avoidance strategy. Instead of speaking directly about the root causes, or sources, of the conflict, Edwards focused on the behaviors and treated Reece and Patel like children. Edwards scolded them, and sent them off without bothering to find out what was bothering the two. Of course, this type of conflict resolution is ineffective because it fails to address the underlying issues. As Anderson (n.d.) points out, addressing the problem is key to conflict resolution. "When a conflict does happen, a manager needs to focus the conflicting parties on the issue and have them leave out any personal problems they may be having," (Anderson, n.d.).
For many of us, every day is a struggle to avoid conflict. Yet avoidance is practically impossible since the core characteristics, ideas and beliefs of each individual often conflict with our own. Differences of opinion, competitive zeal, and misinterpretations, among other factors, can all generate ill feelings between co-workers within an organization. While we can’t avoid conflict, we can learn how to sidestep negative confrontations by becoming familiar with the types of conflicts that most commonly arise in the work place and by learning how to resolve them.

He led the British empire through battle after battle tirelessly, saying, “Continuous effort – not strength or intelligence – is the key to unlocking our potential.” To him, there was “no use saying ‘we are doing our best.’ You have got to succeed in doing what is necessary.” Although it was almost certain that Britain would lose World War II, Churchill provided the willpower needed to stand against Germany and engendered a motivated and hardworking government, as well as an inspired nation.
