Dear S.E Hinton, In the beginning of the story, I thought it was boring. However, throughout the story, I started to like it. I really liked the book The Outsiders because of the way it impacted me. It impacted me because of the theme of this story and how Ponyboy matured throughout the story. In the story, Greasers and Socs always hated each other and got into fights a lot. They often jump each other which leads to people getting hurt or dying. In the story, Johnny got jumped and was hurt. After the incident, he now carries a switchblade in his pocket to protect himself from Socs. The two different groups thought differently about each other. The Socs thought the Greasers were white trash with long hair, and the Greasers thought that Socs

“The Outsiders” is by far one of my favorite books of all time. I think it’s a great story that tells about how a fourteen-year-old boy overcomes many challenges and learns how to get through each of them individually. “The Outsiders” is a story about a boy named Ponyboy that lives with his two older brothers, and they have a group of friends, called the Greasers. One day Pony gets upset with his older brother, Darry, and goes to a park with his friend Johnny to calm down. At the park, a group of kids, called Socs, come and start drowning Pony. Johnny gets scared and doesn’t know what to do so he kills one of the Socs. Soon after, Pony and Johnny decide to run away so they wouldn’t have to deal with
Fracis Ford Coppola’s “The Outsiders” (1983) is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by E.Hinton published in 1967. There are many theories that can be found throughout the movie, victim precipitation theory, differential association theory, strain theory and labeling theory are the most prevalent. The story takes place in Tulsa, Oklahoma and revolves around the story of a 14 year old Greaser named Ponyboy Curtis. The town is split into two conflicting adolescent groups, the Greasers and the Socs. The Greasers are of lower class standings with harsh upbringings, poor kids from the wrong side of town (north) and are considered delinquents. The Socs, are privileged kids living on the south side who have an easy life where everything
Life is always full of plight, even if we are reluctant to accept it, things happen. Sometimes it can be hard to work it out alone. We need others to help us when we cannot help ourselves. With others to help, those gray and sad memories will eventually turn into golden, pure moments. In the novel The Outsiders by S.E Hinton, when several horrific things happened in a flash, Ponyboy needs to be saved from this life of violence and horror, thankfully, a loyal companion, a dog will pull him out of this swirl of chaos.
In the book The Outsiders by S.E Hinton, it's built around the class division between the Socs and the greasers. The Outsiders movie which was released on March 25, 1983, is a American drama film directed by Francis Ford Coppola .It is a crime thriller and is adapted from a novel of the same name by S.E. Hinton .The Film was shot on location in Tulsa, Oklahoma and set in 1965 .The story of this movie revolves around the conflict between the two different social groups ,which is the rich and the poor. It is a class versus class conflict which gives rise to a physical conflict between the Greasers and the Socs .I feel there are physical fights throughout the story between the two groups due to enculturation. The native culture that is transmitted from one generation to another among the Greasers is the reason for their limitations.
The Outsiders Essay – Describe an interesting theme from a text you have studied. Explain why this theme is interesting.
The character that I had chosen to analyze was Ponyboy Curtis in the movie, The Outsiders (Coppola, 1983). I chose this character because the movie revealed how Ponyboy got to where he is mentally and everything that had occurred to get him to that point. I will analyze the adolescent phase of Ponyboy’s life. The theme of The Outsiders is how love can affect the relationships of close friends. The theories and theorists that support my analysis are Erik Erikson’s Psychosocial theory, Albert Bandura’s Observational Learning, Lev Vygotsky’s Sociocultural Perspective and Urie Bronfenbrenner’s Systems theory: Microsystem (Sigelman, 2015). From those theories and theorists the following points will be analyzed: identity, peer pressure, self-worth, and dependence.
