In order to overcome the problem of greenhouse gas emission, unsustainable use of natural resource and at the same time to adopt and increase Ethiopia resilience to the effect of climate change, the FDRE government drafted Climate Resilience Green Economic Policy, which was integrated into the country’s five year Growth and Transformation Plan, in 2012. The policy identified these four major areas of intervention as a corner stone of green economic development: 1. Improving food security by investing in crop and livestock production. 2. Using forest as a carbon stock /diversification of the economic and ecosystem use of the forest 3. An increase in the production of renewable-energy for domestic and international market and making Ethiopia a hub of renewable energy production in Eastern Africa 4. Advance to energy-efficient technologies in industrial, transport and construction sector. The policy has three different but interconnected objectives.
