EDF 3430: Education Measurement and Evaluation Leona Peters Critical Assignment 2 Fall 2015 Introduction The unit for Bridge to Terabithia was a two week unit based off the chapter book and the 2007 movie. The purpose of this unit was to discuss the contrast of the novel and movie, as well as the main characters, character progression, symbols, themes, setting, and plot of the novel. The unit was broken up into six objectives that were covered over the two week period. At the end of the two week period the students would be able to: recall the symbols throughout the novel and movie. (Knowledge), contrast the events within the book and movie. (Analysis), recognize the plots in the book. (Knowledge), examine the themes in the book. (Analysis), describe the development of the main characters. (Evaluation), explain the roles of the supporting characters. (Comprehension). Class Demographics The Elementary 4th class is comprised of twenty students, seven males and thirteen females. The class was diverse, consisting of six Caucasian students; five females and one male, six African American students; two females and four males, one Asian student that is female, four Bi-racial students; three females and one male, and two Hispanic students two female and one male. Three females in class were in the bottom five, one being Caucasian, one Hispanic, and one Bi-racial. Within the top five students four were female; two Caucasian, and one Bi-racial. Out of the male students in the class, two were in the bottom five; one African American and one Hispanic, and one Bi-racial male student was in the top five. There was a plethora of cultural diversity within both the top five and bottom five
