The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is a government website that provides information about various diseases, disabilities, disorders, etc.. The CDC provides multiple webpages about Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) that list and provide information about causes, treatments, variations, and signs/symptoms of the disorder. On their informative pages, they use rhetorical devices to better portray their message. The CDC effectively uses the three rhetorical devices, pathos, ethos, and logos, to reach their goal of informing their target audience and providing a clear perspective on Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.
Plato once said, “Rhetoric is the art of ruling the minds of men.” Through all the time that has passed since those words were first said, rhetoric has been used millions of times in millions of different ways, from a heavily thought out presidential speech to a kid trying to convince his parents to let him eat another cookie from the cookie jar. I listened to an older recording of a radio airing show. Rebecca, the host of the radio broadcasting show, arranged for Dr. Stephen Covey to share his theories and philosophies on a subject valued to him and many others. He communicated on the topic of having a family mission statement. He has published several books that also encourage the equivalent manner and viewpoint as his broadcast, one specifically is the book, Seven Habits of Highly Effective Families. Dr. Covey offers advice for helping to become better parents and raise more loving and closer families. He aims to convince his listeners that effective families need a family mission statement. The 2015 Texas legislature passed a bill to allow concealed handgun permit holders to begin carrying their handguns openly. You do not have to conceal your gun like you did in the past. The bill was signed into law on June 13, 2015, and was effect as of January 1, 2016. Handguns should be carried in a hip or shoulder holster when out in the open now. Businesses can in fact say no to guns on their sites, areas that were considered gun-free zones before this bill took effect remain gun-free zones today. If businesses decide to ban guns they have to post signs to let their customers know. Some of the businesses in Texas (and other states) that are banning open-carry include Whataburger, H-E-B, Whole Foods, Randall’s Food Markets, Torchy’s Tacos, Jimmy Changas and Gringo’s Mexican Kitchen. I was very astonished, when I went to the office hour the first time and asked my professor to give me some advice about my essay. At that time, I had no idea how to specify my topic and analyze my thesis, but my professor gave me lots of specific and arguable ideas that I had never thought of. In my Rhetoric and Genre essay on, Ella Minnow Pea by Mark Dunn I honestly tried my best to explain how the use of genre was ideal to explain Dunn’s rhetoric in the book. I started of by bringing out what I believe were the main points that Dunn wanted to get to his readers. This points being the importance of critical thinking, communication and language and what would happen if we lacked on each of them. When it came to writing on why I believed these points were best told in an epistolary genre was without a doubt a challenge for me. Not because I did not believe that this points were best brought up through this genre but because it was became very difficult for me to explain myself.

Imagine discovering the cure for cancer, and then tossing the revolutionary discovery into a blaze of fire. This obliteration has happened to rhetoric, a tool of language that donates life to argument and creates a thriving system of communication for the world. Rhetoric used to be an important aspect of education that could assist students with the teachings of argument and human interaction. Today, rhetoric has become a topic of minimal discussion among ideas that have long since been outdated, and considered archaic to the educational system. In reality, rhetoric exemplifies the human genius and must be taught in schools to further the evolution of human expression.
Transferring to California State University, Sacramento was the most optimal decision that I have made recently this year and so far, it has been an enjoyable yet compelling one because of the helpful environment around me. Compared to the other two colleges I attended in the past in Stockton, California, I believe Sacramento State University has better resources and opportunities to grow as a student. Some of the resources I have utilized here are the Writing Center and PARC, but I plan to branch out and explore many others I have heard about. Although my major is Mechanical Engineering, I still have other classes that I am required to take in order graduate in Spring of 2020, such as English 109W for my undergraduate GWAR. Paul makes a response to a letter from the Corinthians that pertained to various critical concerns. Specifically, the Corinthians had a concern about human sexuality (1 Corinthians 1:1-40), (Harris, 2014, p.343). Interestingly, Paul responded by informing the people that he prefers a single life without any kind of sexual connection.
