Do traffic signals make a difference when drivers are conducting their vehicles? In U.K. the roads have less signs and are smaller roads than in the United States. The United States has great amounts of traffic signals and symbols all over the road to make the driver more aware. In the U.K. accidents do occur but not that often has in the United States. In the Unites States every second there is huge amounts of accidents going on over the nation. John Staddon in his magazine article “Distracting Miss Daisy” tries to persuade that traffic control is making traffic more dangerous because we do not pay attention to the road, but to the signals.

When you see a solider in his or her uniform, you are proud that they are serving this country to protect our freedom, securing our country, and defending democracy worldwide. The solider can come from different branches of the Military. The one you might be familiar with is the U.S. Army. The game I saw was the Boston Celtics on TNT. I saw the game for ten minutes, and in those ten minutes the Gatorade logo was shown a total of five times. The audience to which this paper is directed towards is the college aged baseball fan in America. They are interested in the game and love to go to the ballpark to watch a game, and if they can’t make it to the game they will try to watch it on TV or catch some of the highlights. They hear the stories about steroids and the various scandals, but don't possess a deep understanding of them. My audience’s attitude towards my culture is admiration for the players and teams. However, likely objections could include the steroid scandals and some fans may be hesitant to accept the fact the these players makes huge salaries each year. In the online article found on the CNN website titled, “U.S gun violence: The story in charts and graphs” the article provides the readers with multiple graphs from bar graphs to pie charts. The graph I will be looking at critically is titled “Firearm background checks by months since 2012.” It’s important to note that this article was written in December of 2015. For this reason, the graph stops on December 2015. Before providing the graph to its readers the author states that the year of 2015 was “was a record year for background checks on guns. Some have pointed out the requests for background checks have gone up after mass shootings, the idea being that shootings cause people to worry about their safety and buy a gun to protect themselves.”

The article states that fear has become a huge deal ever since the presidential elections divided the nation. The American President has bottled up fear within most minorities, especially in African Americans. The article suggests that Donald Trump’s focus was mainly on protecting confederate statues rather than protecting African-Americans and minorities from discrimination and violence.The author seemed to have gathered the information by completing a report on Donald Trump’s speech. The article was meant to be read by minorities who are being ignored by the president and to white Americans. This article is similar to the other article because they both describe the fear that is bottled up inside Americans, whether it is because of threats

The Editorial Board of The Sacramento Bee, in their opinion editorial, “California is Adult in the Room Amid Childishness Over Bathrooms” (16 February 2016), argues that going to the bathroom is a necessity, and thus, lawmakers should not pass laws that base the legal use of bathrooms on the gender from one’s birth. They support their claim by first exposing the faults in the opposite side's opinions, then providing information on California’s plan for bathrooms, then promoting California’s policy that takes safety and comfort into consideration, and finally posing the solution of replacing gender-biased signs on the bathrooms with “all-gender” signs. Since the recession, people often ponder what the best financial options for students looking to go to college are and what path they should take to get them there. The topic that I have chosen is mental disorders and service animals. Many people are aware of service dogs for the visually impaired, but not for other disabilities. The articles explain how certain service animals help children with mental disabilities in different ways. Every kind of disability requires different types of unique assistance and care. After some digging online I found this youtube video which is a speech made by the first Hindu woman elected to congress back in 2013. Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard speaks about being the first Hindu American Member Of Congress. I believe this video is important because it displays the growing consensus of Americans for gender, race, and religious equality. Her speech also touches base on the points of discrimination, persecution, and misconceptions the Hinduism. Her words help to shed light on these issues and her ambition and vision are an empowering to her people. The art of quoting and summarizing an argument is one of the main skills to acquire when it comes to writing a successful piece of work. In the book, They Say I Say the art of inserting quotations is mentioned to be one of the highest mistakes made by writers. Many insert a quote that has no frame of introduction or background information which is considered a “hit and run quote.” Readers need to be able to comprehend not only the writings, but the background information and quotes from another author writing in order to have the whole work cohesive. In “Bring Back Flogging”, Jeff Jacoby addresses the problems within America 's criminal justice system. He gives many reasons why imprisonment simply does not work, and suggests that corporal punishment should be used as an alternative. Published in the Boston Globe, a newspaper well known for being liberal, Jacoby provides a conservative view and directs his argument towards those who strongly support imprisonment and view corporal punishment to be highly barbaric and inhumane. Transferring to California State University, Sacramento was the most optimal decision that I have made recently this year and so far, it has been an enjoyable yet compelling one because of the helpful environment around me.
