On September 11 of 2016, 44th President ,Barack Obama, Address to the 15-year Anniversary of 9/11, to the citizens of the United States honors all survivors of that september day and the families of those we lost. Obama’s purpose is to inform America of what we need in order to preserve those we lost,how we can live up to their example, and how we can keep their spirit alive in our own hearts. He creates a solemn tone to apprise his readers that as a nation, we will preserve the freedoms and way of life that make us a beacon to the world. While using Pathos,Mesodiplosis, and Allusion he adopts a subject that pronounced “Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you...write them on the tablet of your heart.” Obama begins his speech using pathos when he implies that September 11 is still a difficult day for all of the survivors. He appeals to pathos by using the phrase “We remember,and we will never forget,the nearly 3,000 beautiful lives taken from us so cruelly including 184 men, women,and children here,the youngest just three years old.”(pg.1 ,par.2) The usage of that appeal leaves the audience with an emotional affection. He goes on to say “It’s the courage of Welles Crowther, just 24 years old, in the south tower the man in the red bandana who spent his final moments helping strangers to safety before the towers fell.” Obama then goes on to tell us another allusion “It’s the resilience of the firehouse in Eighth Avenue patriots who lost more than a dozen men, but who still suit up every day as the “pride of Midtown” It’s the love of a daughter, Payton wall of New Jersey whose father, in his last moments on the phone from the towers, told her, “I will always be watching over you”.” (Pg.3,Par.4) Using this appeal in the speech gives the audience more
