The Leadership style and management of Richard Branson
Richard Branson entrepreneurial projects started in the music industry and expanded into other sectors making Branson a billionaire. His Virgin Group holds more than 200 companies, including the recent Virgin Galactic, a space-tourism company. Branson is also known for his adventurous spirit and sporting achievements, including crossing oceans in a hot air balloon. Branson’s goal is to turn Virgin into “the most respected brand in the world.”

Branson believes he learned leadership through trial and error, since founding his first company, Student Magazine, at the age of 16. Branson believes his key elements of leadership style is caring about people and being a good leader, “you must like people who you can bring out the best in them” As a leader another key aspect is being able to develop teamwork, commitment, and employee motivation. A team and consensus builder is able by involving, empowering and creating a positive work environment for employees (HiTec Holdings, 2006). Branson appears to love what he does, and his goal is to tackle ideas and take risks.
