Richard Trevithick's Locomotive

Richard Trevithick created the first full scale steam locomotive. His first locomotive, the New Castle, was first run on Christmas Eve 1801. Trevithick’s third locomotive, the Catch-me-who-can, ran in a circle in London. Rides were offered at a shilling per person. Concluding, Trevithick designed many types of locomotives. Trevithick innovated James Watt’s low pressure steam engine to create his own high pressure steam engine. This new engine showed more efficiency by using improved piston rods and a rotational movement to get energy on both strokes instead of just one. Trevithick’s engines were found in many mines in England and he tried to install them in South America. Using his engine Trevithick also designed a barge with paddle wheels,
