When Richard started his school, he was wondering if the boys fought, and he “took it for granted” that they did. Richard realized that the only way to gain acceptance among the boys was to be strong and demonstrate his violence. On the first day of school, Richard already picks a fight with one of the boys, tormenting him by saying, “you’re not any too good-looking yourself.” Richard tries to gain homage from the other boys, saying “...But if you want to fight, I’ll fight.” Showing his natural tendency for violence. He also says, “Go to hell” to the boy he was fighting. Finally, his violent nature is demonstrated through his plans. On page 92, Richard finds a ring with a gem inside and takes out the gem to reveal the sharp edges of the ring prongs.
In the novel, The Book Thief, author Markus Zusak illustrates the theme that words have the potential to be more harmful than physical violence, if used in the wrong way.
Acting on selfish desires can result in violent actions. When one is overcome by grief they tend to act on impulse with revenge in attempt to fill their sorrow, when in fact that only makes the situation worse. In William Shakespheres Romeo and Juliet the fude between Montague and Capulet heats up as Romeo Montague is caught by Tybalt Capulet at a Capulet party. Tybalt selfishly wants to put Romeo in his place. The only way Tybalt negotiates is by war.
The author describes Richard's eyes as dark and blank; this is all of his exasperation building inside Richard and destroying him psychologically and emotionally. Richard's anger is driven by the thought of losing the one thing he is proud of, his wife. Another example of Richard's anger is when he beats Frank for sleeping with his wife. The narrator explains, "Matt gently held Frank's jaw and turned his face to the light, looked at the stitches, the blood under the white of the eye, the bruised flesh" (568). Richard's anger has progressed into physical attack and readers may see this as a new level of anger.
Alex is caught (page 70): Alex had held firm in his belief that it was better to run oneself by feeling as opposed to thought, and this was exhibited by his rash actions of violence. Additionally he used his youth to his advantage to remain out of trouble with the authorities but his youth was actually a large part in his capture. He hadn't really considered that he might ever get caught, hadn't truly believed that his drools would really betray him because he thought so highly of himself. However, in this part of the book this false belief crumples apart as he accidentally kills the old woman, and is left to the millicents by George and Dim.
The novel is set in a not so distant futuristic dystopian society in a town of England. This town of England has had an increasing growing problem of violence in their young population. There are two settings that are important for the novel and they are the streets of the town and the prison where Alex is tortured in order for him to change his criminal ways. Burgess describes the town as an industrial but dead almost as if it was a ghost town. During the day, the people represent a normal british town with people walking around and enjoying their day. During the night however, the young population come out and unleash violence on the town. The older citizens of the town have no other way of escaping the violence. A victim of Alex and his

This social issue has been in the spotlight for quite some time now and is the leading cause for students to miss school, become less social, cause self harm and even in some cases death. Bullying and harassment are commonly seen for the most part amongst teenagers who face issues at school, not only does this happen here in the United States, but in schools universally. ¨17% of American students report being bullied 2 to 3 times a month or more within a school semester¨ (Valerie). Although this is mostly seen among teens it can also happen between children and even adults. Bullying can occur everyday throughout Madera High School and no one would be able to acknowledge or stand up for the victim. Vice Principals at MHS have said that more
The sin of revenge is worse than the sin of adultery. Revenge is an action that one takes to deliberately affect someone else negatively, whether through violence, words, etc. On the other hand, adultery may be simply caused by dissatisfaction with someone else, and it is not always a tactic to hurt the original person being betrayed. Therefore, revenge causes more harm in a relationship and life in general. In the novel, though Hester and Arthur committed adultery, Hawthorne may actually agree that revenge is worse. Hawthorne gave Roger devil-like qualities when Roger was planning revenge. The “old man's soul was on fire, and kept on smoldering duskily within his breast.” (116)
William Golding contends in his novel “Lord of the flies” that the dangers of evil which lurk inside all of us savagery are through the character Roger. When one considers the word savagery, specifically within the frame of william golding’s novel, savagery comes as a result of freedom and no consequences. In the novel when Roger gets stuck on the island he isn’t certainly evil in fact he is a very shy kid . Although as the story progresses we see him descending into it evilness and savagery. We see that when Roger is walking on the beach with mauris after kicking the kids sandcastle, “Roger stooped, picked up a stone, aimed threw it at henry….threw it to miss.”(Chapter 4) This was a sign of savagery growing inside of him. He wanted to hit

Richard then gloats over his success in a soliloquy stating how he has won her heart even though he is regarded by her as the devil with dissembling looks and he stabbed Edward her love just 3 months earlier. This highlights how he thinks of himself as the best as he brags about his misdeeds as though he is immortal.
Shakespeare wrote “Two households, both alike in dignity, from ancient grudge break to new mutiny, where civil blood makes civil hands unclean. From forth the fatal loins of these two foes a pair of star-crossed lovers take their life,”(Prologue.1-6).
